I've done my share of partying, but this is one thing I'm glad I never tried. Just reading the list of ingredients that goes into it makes it tough to understand why anyone would even want to ingest it into their bodies. It's like a witches' brew or worse. Now, I have to worry about my kids being exposed to it as they get older. My parents had it easy compared to what I'm in store for.

Exactly. Many of these meth processors as well as cocaine processors in South America are reacting to the restriction of certain industrial chemicals and have switched to using solvents like Acetone (and worse) that are toxic and carcinogens.

Yep, Acetone is one head scratching ingredient, for sure. But I wasn't even really talking about the stuff that comes from Mexico or South America. From what I understand, that stuff is usually higher grade because there are less restrictions on getting 'quality' components. From what I've read in the newspaper about the red neck meth around these parts, some of the items it includes are drain cleaner, battery acid, camp stove lighting fluid, and other other seemingly toxic ingredients. Sure sounds like a great high, doesn't it?

ok, meth is cheaper than cocaine, its easier to produce, you don't have to have a connection to get it, the addictive part of it, is more long term, and if you are a newbie to the drug, it can trick you into believing its not addictive. Cocaine leaves you with a feeling of, more, more, whereas meth, you can go to sleep on, smoke some before work, do your job, lots of soccer moms are doing it now, because they work, have to pick up the kids, and they need to be on the go. Its a very tricky drug, and the long term effects are just brutal. Your teeth go bad, it fries your brain, but when you have a government telling you that everything except the stuff approved by the fda is bad, when its actually not, alot of people fall into the meth trap. Is meth bad for you, oh hell yes it is. But various forms of speed go waaaaay back. Hitler was on speed. Alot of people now are addicted to an amphetimine called adderal. The only difference between adderal and meth, is adderal is made in a legit lab by a company like pfizer, and meth is made in a trailer by billy bob.

People are going to continue to use this drug, regardless, which is why i think new methods are needed to combat this stuff. I think Okie hit the nail on the head with her post about treatment.
