Funny thing is @uscvball she can say what she does and live well like she does because Western Europeans Protestant (mostly) culture created the country she’s living in.
We need to do more to promote the values that WE i mean WASPs developed over the last 500 years that has fundamentally changed the world for the better. It’s dead white men who set the values and standards and system we all benefit from.
Now I don’t mean we should denigrate others but defend the thinkers, the religious, the men of action that left medieval Europe and created the great United States.

Classical Greece was an amazing culture. Were they just the dawn of this bright, present day, or are we just an afterglow of that explosion of thought?

they were Greek, were the Greeks white? How about the Italians, aka Romans, were they white? The Spanish conquistadors? The Portuguese colonials?.. White? I don't think so.

This is Western civilization's lineage, the major part of our European heritage. What is white? Germans, English, French, Russians? It's easy to generalize, separate and divide people into groups, but it's never valid,.. there are no people really, just as there is no American people, there are only individuals each totally unique, yet all the same.

All fair points but if you look at history there was no significant change in lifestyle until the invention of moveable printing and the Protestant reformation. Printing gave rise to the dissemination of knowledge at an unprecedented scale. Information that had been limited and isolated became available to more people.
The Protestant reformation broke the idea that there was only one hierarchy of order and that the individual was important.
These changed the way Europeans looked at life and the world. It took the ideas of Greece and Rome and reformulated them to what became the ideas of Locke, Adam Smith, Jefferson and others. Europe and the United States have been accelerating ever since. It’s only after the rest of the world adopted these ideas in one form or another it began to catch up.

Of course there were other factors such as the Black Death and the recovery from that traumatic event. The loss of population loosened the bonds of serfdom and allowed commoners to reach for more.
One salient fact is that around 1500 Western Europe was poorer than China, India and the Middle East in every measure. It was weaker economically, militarily and educationally. Less than 100 years later it was roaring ahead and flexing new muscles around the world. It had stopped an driven back the Muslim invasion begun 700 years before. It started the development of the new world and had begun to establish rule in Africa and Asia. By the end of WWII American/European ideas, culture and military & economic power ruled the world.
Every other great power in 1500, China, India the Ottoman Empire had been more than lapped. Most were living closer to 1500 lifestyle than 1900 lifestyle. Why? I believe the simple answer is the white Western European work ethic that can be traced back to the changes noted in 1500.
