I say they need the raise. $37K to the avg. state legislator is chicken feed. How would you interest a smart person in running for this job if you don't pay a fair salary for the work you expect to have performed? The only way you could spend 100K for a 37K job is to make up the difference in corrupt ways. You may be getting what you pay for.

It's supposed to be a part time job. When those azz wipes vote on stuff like the official drink of La, not letting child molesters wear Halloween masks, etc. it turns inot a full time job!!

La would be better off if these clowns would spend less time in session.

It's over 60K when you figure per diem and other perks. You say it's chickenfeed, but this makes them the highest paid legislature in the south, when we're no 1 in education, median pay, infrastrucure, or any of the benchmarks we regularly score either 49th or 50th in, then we can jack their pay up.

Regardless, it't not just the raise, it't the auto increases that torque me.

I don't think Jindal was worried about $2,500, which was not paid by him but by his campaign. The bill was sponsored by legislators where were either targets of the ethics board or who had been targets in the past. Jindal should have vetoed it.

A citizen gets as much democracy as it demands. (or words to that effect) If we don't take action, nobody else will. Call, write and e-mail.
