Benton can go back for the Spring semester & continue to try & get the ACT score he needs. If he can get it by then, he wouldn't have to go to JUCO.
I just did a long analysis using current rankings of the top 16, average stars, available schollys, and the rivals point system compared to the 4 and 5 * rival players left with interest to each of the current top 16 teams ... my crap computer logged me out when I went to post. I really think we are looking at 7-8 at best and 9 or 10 wouldnt surprise me.
Calvary is fairly new on the scene...this past season would be the first they might have had any viable candidates for a D1 school. Actually, this season they beat Evangel and while it was a good win for them, this seasons Evangel team is not quite the same talent level as the Evangel teams from previous seasons. Calvary has Khiry Cooper who is a nice prospect but he had a very quiet season aside from the Rayville game and a couple others...people were very big on him at the start but it seemed like interest in him faded as the season wore on. Evangel has some decent guys that could make an impact at Tech or NSU...again not the level of talent as in year's past. So to answer your question: Calvary hasn't really had an opportunity to steer or not steer players our way as they are still in a starter stage. Evangel has directed plenty of players our way, most recent was Chase Pittman and Jacob Hester, but more recently they haven't had that level of player in as much quantity if at all. They haven't had a decent QB since JDB left and thats unique for them as they had a run of about 5 that got D1 schollys. What yall have to realize (for those that don't already know) is that both of these schools, while they have more than their share of prospects, are as much built on the systems they run as the prospects. I can't really answer the Curtis part of your question, possibly one of the NOLA area guys or CParso could give you some insight.
I think this is a big miss conception. Most of the kids coming out of those schools that we dont get are because we arent recruiting them. Everyone thinks this because we lost one big name last year in Joe McKnight last year. Of the Top 25 LA recruits from those 3 schools since 2003. 2008 - Robby Green (JC) signed with Bama- didnt recruit him...looking to signed 10 of top 15 while not recruiting 3 of the others. 2007 - Joe McKnight (JC) - lost him to USC...still had #4 ranked recruiting class. 2006 - none in the top 25 from those schools, LSU signed 12 of top 15 kids out of LA. Had the #4 ranked recruiting class. 2005 - Zach Schreiber (Evangel) was ranked #22 in LA and signed with Bama...LSU did not recruit or offer. Jacque Jackson (JC) was ranked #23 and I think wound up walking on somewhere. His interests included Alkorn, Southern U, and Southern Illinois. Had #2 ranked recruiting class. 2004 - Jacob Hester (Evangel) signed with LSU. Chris Bowers (Evangel) was ranked #15 and signed with Ole Miss. LSU did not recruit or offer. Tim Henderson (Evangel) was ranked #25 and signed with Ole Miss. LSU did not offer or recruit. LSU signed 9 of the top 10 kids out of LA and had the #1 ranked recruiting class. 2003 - Jerry Sevin (Evangel) ranked #4 signed with LSU. Carnell Stewart (JC) ranked #9 signed with LSU. Trinton Ross (Evangel) ranked #12 signed with OU...no offer from LSU, not sure if we recruited. Ryan Watson (JC) ranked #19 signed we lost to USC. Jarrod Carter (JC) ranked #20 signed with LSU. Kris Bush (JC) ranked #23 signed with Michigan St...no offer from LSU, not sure if we recruited.
JT Curtis is famous for doing that and I really don't know what's the answer as to why. Evidently, someone at LSU really pissed him off in the past and he's never gotten over it. I remember awhile back I had done a little research on John Curtis alumni currently playing college ball and of the 17 former Patriots playing, only 6 were at Louisiana schools (and we only had 2: Carnell Stewart and Chris Jackson). Hell...UCLA had just as many former John Curtis players as we did! WVU had one and I think Arizona State had one (maybe two).
Did Edwards commit to Bama?? Not a member of rivals but on their message boards they have a thread with the title http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/forum.asp?fid=2208
No...he announces during the UA game....that post reads I sure would like to read that in a few hours here on this site. GRIN Couldn't resist giving you LSU fans a little nudge. Being married to a Cajun from Abbeville for 33 years has given me that right. Just keep my mother in law down there in Abbeville. Edwards will be a great addition no matter which one of our teams he goes to. By the way, thanks for Saban. He is a GREAT coach. Have a Great Weekend. Let the Good Times Roll
