Hope Patchan chooses the sinking ship...I don't want our team to have to deal with him in the coming years.
Miami stands little chance at holding onto that #5 spot. They are almost tapped out at 27 recruits and too many have been 3 star recruits. LSU stands a good chance to end at anywhere from 1 to 3, if we land Johnson (5 star), DBrown (5 star), Benton (5 star), and Bryant (high 4 star). Throw in a surprise, and I definitely think we are a solid top 2, with a chance at finishing #1. Projected points for LSU would be anywhere from 2600 - 2700, if we get everyone. The leader is Notre Dame at 2456. Bama and Georgia are almost tapped out and are 2444 and 2384, respectively. If I had to project, I would say: 1. Alabama (JJones,Lawrence,Harris?) 2. LSU (Johnson, DBrown, Benton,TJBryant?) 3. Notre Dame 4. Florida State 5. Georgia 6. USC 7. Miami (Perry) 8. Ohio State 9. Texas 10. UCLA 11. Oklahoma 12. Michigan (TPryor) 13. Florida (Patchan) 14. Auburn 15. Clemson If LSU doesn't get either Bryant or Brown, we would probably finish #5 or #6. In addition, if we don't get Johnson as well, LSU finishes #8, #9 or #10. Getting all of these guys and LSU is in a fight with Notre Dame for #2. Throw in that extra surprise (recruit #28) and LSU is a solid #2 and pushing Bama for #1, although I think Bama is probably uncatchable.
Today's article in The Advocate is pretty confusing, at least that's the way it seems...It mentions Kyle Pratter and and Darrel Scott as teammates... I don't know if it is as in teammates for that game or at LSU. then at the bottom, they also put his name alongside players that have already committed to LSU...Pretty confusing, I don't wanna get my hopes up.
Thanks for breaking all that down. I know a lot can happen by signing day. I sure hope we get a surprise big pick to balance out the disappointment of McKnight going to USC last year. It seems John Curtis pushes for their players to go out of state. If we win the NC it will be icing on the cake for our program. I already can't wait to see our team next year. An undefeated Georgia coming to BR next year will be a great game.
The why the need to put his name with the other LSU recruits that will play this weekend??? http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/featured/13037687.html
:geaux: :crystal: :helmet: Anyone got any ideas why John Curtis, Evangel, and now Calvary Baptist (Shreve.) don't have more players at LSU. Are they actively steered away from LSU, as mentioned by a previous post, and if so why? These are some of the premier programs in La. and it would interesting to know why LSU doesn't get more players from these programs. Are their players so brainwashed by the respective coaches that they would ignore LSU and it's great program to go somewhere else? I would hope the players could make some decisions on their own. Surely they all don't hate LSU. Is there something else going on here?:geauxtige :champs: :LSU231:
Your numbers are probably valid assuming both Brown and Benton are academically qualified. But Brown certainly will not be and will have to go the JUCO route for at least a year. It is also possible Benton may have to spend yet another year at Hargrave. If this turns out to be the case, they will not count on this year's class. I will be very surprised if LSU lands another top 5 class this year, but I am hoping I am wrong.
Couple of things... Unless some teams lose some players, there is no way we finish number two. The margin the leaders have it too much to overcome when you look at how many points a player is worth. Also, Benton can not go back to Hargrave next season and will have to go to a Junior College, I believe. Either way, we will have a great class and more importantly filled some major areas of concern.
