    I'd rather not have to use my A1 QB as a holder. He's open to injury.

    I think the reason Mauck was holding was because Clayton got injured. I would rather not see Mauck or Clayton or anybody else with that much value to the team risk injury by holding. What if Mauck got kicked in his passing hand or Clayton in either hand? I've never heard of it happening in college or pro football but the only time I was ever the holder was in practice one day in high school and I got kicked in the hand. Lucky it wasn't broken but it hurt like hell.

    True, but it sure does open up the possibility of a fake. In a real, straight-up kick, how often does the holder get hit?
