I think offensive play calling and adjustments will be major factors in this game along with TO's. I think LSU must play call aggressively and not be predictable. Teams have done a better job of containing Fournette(despite good yards no big TD runs) recently. LSU must throw more on first down. Teams still load the box because they know Miles won't budge. I think if Harris is on and the play calling is good LSU wins.

As for Steele being an advantage? With both teams having an extra I don't see much advantage. I think LSU needs to play more man D and less zones since that is where we tend to get beat deep. Also blitzes need to be better disguised and mixed up. Coker is accident prone. Bama is very beatable but you know they will be ready. LSU always plays them tough but loses it in the end. If LSU gets a lead here we must step on their throat and not play conservative only to nearly lose it again like against UF and Miss ST.

Definitely have to put them away if the opportunity presents itself, this conservative sit on it shit has lost it for LSU 2 out of the last 3 games against them. I wanna see Florida Les.

We spotted Florida 14 points, scored 28 in the 2nd qtr, and still kept them in the game in the second half.
I want to see non-extant Les.

I agree. If anything Les kept them in the game allowing them to have the opportunity for a final drive. Fact is LSU should have stomped on their throat. Instead Les went super conservative again trying to sit on the lead. In the first half LSU went down the field, exploiting their D for big plays. In the second half it was run, run, third and long and call a conservative pass play.

The only advantage is that Steele was not the DC at Alabama. Kirby Smart was and is. Cam can study the tendencies of Smart over a period of a few years while Kiffin can only study the tendencies of Steele over 7 games.

Kiffin has one tendency that I heard the other night on a sports talk show. As soon as the Bama offense crosses the 50 yard line Coker will throw long on the very next play. I hope Steele is away of this and prepared for it.

If you go back in the archives and look at the thread about Steele being hired you'll find I said practically the same thing.

I still don't get that hire. Maybe Derek Mason will be axed at Vandy by the time it's time to give Steele the ole hook.

You're basing that on what? We've not played the same opponents so there's nothing to use there. If we look at the current standings, the best rushing offense LSU has faced was E. Michigan. If we take those standings at face value LSU hasn't faced anywhere near the rushing attacks Bama has this season.

Steele was the DC in 2007. He didn't like as much time as he was spending on the road recruiting and took a lesser title in '08 along with a smaller area to recruit.

I can't see Steele bring anything to the game that hasn't been seen (and is on film) over this 30+ years coaching.

He does have a tendancy to call a passing play when the offense is around the 50. However, it's not a "deep ball scenario" as suggested on that talk show.

In the last game there were four, maybe five, drives where a passing play was called mid-field. As I recall, all completions with the longest one being 15-18 yards (including YAC.)
