what are you talking about? the OL protected jr great and deserve credit for it and jr hit his receivers and deserves credit for it. but this performance by jr in no way separates him from the top 10 qbs--the heisman talk is stupid. he performed ok against auburn, but lets see what he does against good teams. i wrote nothing about the running game.
You think Quinn is a better QB than JR? Quinn had an awful game against Michigan. JR had a decent game against Auburn, but couldn't make the big play to get us in the endzone. Quinn makes a comeback against a crappy MSU team and he's back in the heisman race. Except for one bonehead play by JR, he's been more impressive. But either way, the stage is set for JR to shine against Florida. We'll see what kind of love he gets nationally if he comes up big.
I expect to see what I've seen the last 2 weeks. Come out with 3 and 4 WR sets and throw the ball, then mix in a few runs. Clearly, it won't be as easy to score against UF as it was the last 2 games, but that will give us our best chance to win. We can't completely abandon the run, but I don't think we'll be as stubborn as we were in the Auburn game. Jump on them early and get the crowd out of the game...
Eh I dunno, I think you're right for the most part, but just because an O-line can protect the QB doesn't mean at the same time they're opening lanes for the running backs... not the same task at all IMHO.
Thanks swerved, I must have read something wrong last week, I thought Ainge was ahead of JR but evidentally he wasn't. Never heard of the Pitt QB before, can't believe Dave W. has a QB with a rating that high.
It seems obvious to me that if Russell isn't the best QB in the nation he is in the conversation. That loss to Auburn is on the refs and the running game. Russell did enough to win the game, and though he made a few mistakes and the receivers dropped a couple of passes, poop happens. Calling him out for the Auburn game exposes a weak grasp on reality. Is UF going to wear their antique uniforms against LSU? I kinda liked them as a change of pace; much better than those test jerseys they worse last season.
You really could say that he did all he could, but some would argue not throwing to the end zone or throwing away in that final series is indicative of his decision making. But then I'd just throw all of last year's come-back wins in their faces.
Shouldn't the guy be entitled to mistakes? He has this offense rolling at least as well as our 2001 offense and probably better than it's been in a long time. If we had a running game we would be unstopable. He made mistakes at the end of the Auburn game, but it ignores all he did right. It doesn't make any sense to me. o:
