I didn't even consider visiting here Saturday night or Sunday. Even now, I'm only reading thread titles and this is the only thread I opened.

I figured Les and Crowton would be deservedly getting creamed for losing a game that should have been won but I just didn't feel like deepening the anger/depression by reading some of the idiotic rants I knew would be there. If you like TF but hate the stuff complained about earlier in the thread, just stay away for a couple days until the children have had their say. It works, trust me.

Are you going to make an appearance Saturday at the TeamKatt tailgate?

Do people still want to attend Tiger games?

After Saturday, I'm not too excited about attending and hearing hundreds of people complaining all day. But my 8-year-old is over-the-top excited about her second game in Tiger Stadium.

I also don't think a private forum is the solution, they tend to get filled only with people who feel alike and discussion suffers. Others feel like outsiders and find a friendlier place.

But a Contributors-Only forum as a perk for Contributors would be a place for all opinions and doesn't require an invitation, but it would be a place mostly free of folks who login after a big loss, make 20 inflammatory posts in two days then are never head from again. There should be a place for new guys to login and rant but also a refuge for regulars--contributors who have an interest in the forum and have said so with contributions.

I really don't mind a long-time regular venting his displeasure. It's the single-digit newbies who have paid no dues, respect nobody, care nothing for the style of the forum, and cannot seem to control their tempers, watch their language, or hold their tongues. I don't think his site can be built around accommodating that demographic at the expense of the long-time contributors.

If we can have both, then why not?

I have finally followed your example and have just ignored The Den. I think a lot of regulars have. It's a shame.

I meant PM's from the administrator to the offending posters reminding them to not get personal on their second appearance on the "personal attack" thread.

That would definitely be nice. Just not some private invite only section as Brett recommended. Those things ruin forums.

The whole front page of the Den is littered with Threads started my the malcontents. They are taking the loss and the way we lost to validate their existence and to point fingers with "I told you so". Just too many to battle so I will stay away for a while.

A forum with a nice "Members Only (contributors only)" section and a "Rant here" section seems the best way to go. Let the Den or Rant section turn into Tiger Droppings.
