I don't know. It was baffling to watch us run it into 9 man fronts. Auburn was begging us to throw it, knowing very well that Mettenberger has been killing people with the long pass and big YAC passes all year long. They were smart to go all in with the run defense, praying that we would get conservative. We obliged. I just hate that it looks like we might be handcuffing Mett just a bit, because he didn't audible out of any of those run plays last night. Not once.
Maybe you missed it, Mett checked off, to the more safer play many times not forcing the issue. Like I said, for the many times, we responded every time they scored till the end of the game. We matched TD for TD till victory formation. We finished with the more balance than any game this year. You do know that Mett had almost 100 yds. more passing in the second half right after he threw the Int?
LSU responded very well to every Auburn score but we should have put the foot to the petal. You cant play uber safe against SEC competition. We dont have a shutdown D this year.
Yep .. the same Miles that did the exact same thing against Bama last year .. and lost because of it. There is one thing that has been proven here ... it wasn't Cameron, or Studs last year that demanded a "sit on the lead" approach, and hope our D can keep them out of the endzone. ... nope .. it was Miles then .. and it was Miles last night. I understand the strategy if you are 3 or four possessions up ... but it's a losing proposition against a really explosive offense with just a 2 possession lead.
Last night was certainly Miles and NOT Cam. Its the same predictable play calling the weve seen the previous few years. Miles backers cant blame Crowton or Stud. Put Auburn down four scores and rest your players. I hope Miles gives Cam full reign again. We dont need to lose games we should win because of no balls coaching.
Do you know I am talking about the 2nd quarter? When LSU had the opportunity to open up a 35-0 or 42-0 lead?
I'm not singling you out, amigo, but I've heard this on several threads today and my response to these critics is . . . get over it. I did a long time ago. I don't like fans leaving early either but that is the way it is. Here and everywhere. Most schools can't even fill their tiny stadiums. You know, fans leaving early in won games or in bad weather is something that has been happening for friggin' ever. At least as long as the 40 years that I've been sitting in Tiger Stadium. It happens at all the other stadiums, too. I have observed it. These are the same fans that also stay to the end, scream loudly, chant and rock the stadium during big games. The same fans that have earned Tiger Stadium the reputation that it has. I stay to the end along with tens of thousands, but I live 10 minutes from the stadium. The students leave early to go party, elderly people leave early to avoid the post-game mob, people with kids leave early for obvious reasons, many people leave during bad weather, or because they have to drive back to Shreveport, or because their dates are bored, or they are drunk. For many reasons. I especially dislike hearing this complaint from fans who sit watching the game on their asses in their living rooms where there is heat, A/C, food, clean bathrooms, and HDTV. Why aren't they buying season tickets to support the team? Why aren't they braving the traffic, the prices, and the weather? There are game tickets available outside the stadium for almost every game. Where the hell are the TV fans? And how many of them change the channel before the game is over?
They do this EVERYTIME we get a big lead. It's extremely frustrating and will come back to bite us sooner or later. FIND A KILLER INSTINCT!
.. You mean when LSU scores in 4 plays for 73 yards? An when barn couldn't get inside our 42 yard line? That quarter? Ok, that quarter. Yea I see what your talking about.
