You don't know some of these LSU fans too well, one loss and they call for his head. Where have you been?
Great post, Red. And I, too, chuckled at the "Ugly" portion. First aid stations are really weird. In 1984, during the last week's of the New Orleans Worlds Fair, my high school took four or five busses of students to the fair for the day. I was messing around with friends and fell on my elbow, which became a bloody mess. A band nerd who was with us was the Boy Scout of group and knew where the closest first aid station was. They didn't want to give me a band aid because I didn't have a parent or teacher with me and was a minor. My band nerd hero just yelled, "Oh, give her the band aid already!" They did, and I reminded him at my high school reunion last year how he was my hero that day. And, @lsutiga, there is no way on earth we lose 4 or 5 games this year. We'd be more likely to go undefeated than lose that many. The future looks bright, but so does this season, too. If the past decade of LSU football has taught me anything, it's never to discount the current year, thinking the best is yet to come. Grab the brass ring when it's there because nothing in the future is guaranteed.
Good - Jennings to Dural for the touchdown, get used to hearing those words. Brandon Harris has a cannon and is a strong runner for a freshman. Fournette finally got some big runs on some sweet moves. Dupree made a hell of a catch, Quinn had some big chain moving catches and looks like he will be the safety blanket on 3rd down. Darrell Williams looks like a bowling ball. Dodd played well, as did all of the back ups. I liked what I saw from Teohoma and Beckwith, Thomas and Adams. Welcome back Rashard Robinson. Bad - Jennings still has issues with the screen, I would have liked to have seen us try a few more. Delahoussaye is a better kicker than that and needs to figure it out and quick. Defensive tackle is going to be an issue this season. Hope Pocic is ok, Jennings seemed to be a different qb when went out. Ugly - the celebration from Fournette. I think the kid is going to be a superstar but in the age of social media he is going to be made fun of relentlessly, trolled relentlessly, and has now brought all kinds of unneeded attention to himself. Let your play do the talking LF. Maybe it was a shout out to the last 2 7's but don't hurt the team for that stuff, it should have been a penalty. Really this game was as close to perfect as I've seen in a long time. Geaux Tigers.
I think it was Vince Lombardi who many years ago said "Act like you've been there before." Still true today.
Mostly, Delahoussaye has been deadly accurate for us. The best kickers will miss one every now and then. I'm happy that Keehn hit a 56-yard boomer and averaged 44 yards . . . without one of his customary shanks.
Good - I really was impressed with Williams. Ran hard and smart. Reminded me of the first time Addai got the ball. Just a breath of fresh air to see someone run with such violence. Bad - I am still not that enamored with #7. The pose did not help but I guess I expect too much from a freshman. He definitely has the physical tools. Just does not seem to have that natural escapability. Hope I am wrong, but the eye test is worrying me.
He's worried that he won't get many chances. He certainly made the best of them. Fournette is a stud. He is just used to totally outclassing high school opponents and for the last month he has been practicing with teammates that are not trying to hurt each other. He has some stuff to learn about football at this level. It's hard to develop intensity when it has always been so easy. He has got about two more weeks to get it down before facing SEC level defenses which will educate him further. But he will be fine if he stays healthy.
If we are able to hold on to Guice and Brossette's commitments, I could see Williams assuming the Hilliard role of being part of the TB rotation, but playing fullback and getting carries in short yardage. If not, we'll need him full time as a TB
