We may not have rivalries like Bama-Auburn, OSU-Michigan, or Florida St.-Florida, but we do have rivals. Our stints with Ole Miss, Bama and Auburn all are considered rivals by many fans and the media.

From what I understand, this "Battle for the Boot" means way more to Arkansas every year, because they have no real, clear rival, except for us. I believe they look at us the way we look at Bama or Auburn. Usually a tough fight.

I think we have the most rivals in college football. I hate more than half the teams we played with an unrivaled passion.

Most people over-look the Ark/LSU game because of our never-dying hatred for Auburn and 'Bama but Arkansas has played LSU tough--even in down years for the Hogs.

I'll never forget their hailmary plass to knock us out of the title game in '02...and how close they were last year--which, in hindsight, was a forshadowing for what the '06 Razorbacks would be like.

Now, we can't win the West--can't stop Arkansas from going to Atlanta for the SEC title game, but perhaps we can hand them a crushing loss on Friday and almost assure them of a return trip to Atlanta....for the Chick-fill-A Bowl! :thumb: as well as improve our chances (as best we can) for a possible outside BCS at-large--and at worst either a Cap One or Cotton Bowl bid.

Obviously, a BCS game vs "whoever" would make my day at this point, but a possible Cap One vs Wisconsin would make for a great matchup...

And as for the Cotton Bowl, I wouldn't mind meeting Nebraska in that one. I have some buried frustration from the Sugar Bowl beatings the Huskers laid on the Tigers in the late '80's.

My mother-in law gave me a 45 of the Cornhusker Rag. She said it was given out at a sugar bowl back then. Probably at the game you are refering too. Why don't bowls give out cool stuff anymore. Pretty much get towels and advertisements now.

I agree that Arkansas thinks this rivalry is bigger than LSU does. Just go read their forums.

The Hogs need to give it some time for us to consider them a true rival. Decades more of history with the other SEC teams....

When we whip them on Friday, they will really get their hatered of the Tiger boiling!

Unfortunately, rivalries are pretty much only created:

1.) when your team loses to a particular opponent long enough for you to hate them. (i.e. 'Bama)

    2. produce, for the most part, a string of evenly distributed "W's and L's"
    (i.e. Florida/Auburn)

    3. when both teams are among the top 15 teams in the nation annually (i.e. Ole Miss back in the day)

So....while I rather enjoy bringing home some hardware for a regular season game, I don't want anything other than #3 to happen that would cause the majority of LSU fans to begin strongly considering Arkansas as a "big rival".

What this rivalry needs is an off the field incident like stealing their pig and acting like we are roasting it in the parking lot and then giving it back to them after the game.

Them there,s the thing that get rivalry's goin.

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    Lets cook some ham.

 We have to give it back???

But yeah, the LSU-Arky rivarly defintelay has potential. It is the last game of the year and both teams are very talented. However, if either LSU or Arkansas can consistently still remain in the national picture by this time it will be a great rivalry because each team will be gunning to ruin the hopes of the other, similar to OSU-Michigan. But Arkansas needs to start beating us a couple times for us to consider them a real rival kinda like the 02 win. If there is a lot on the line it will be a fun game to watch especially since it is also played the day after Thanksgiving every year so there is some tradition there.

I understand some of you saying we need to establish more history in the SEC, but overall we have plenty of football history.

LSU is not much of a rival. You guys look at Auburn when they look at Alabama. We look at Tennessee when they look at Florida. We know how it feels. No worries.

Well, come Friday afternoon, the Hogs are going to wish they HAD looked at LSU instead of looking someplace else.
