OK, I am on the ground. THE GOOD 1. Mettenberger may be the best future NFL quarterback from LSU since Bert Jones. 2. Beckham and Landry will also be openly lusted after by NFL scouts. 3. Cam's LSU offense can post 40 points a game this year which will win us a lot of games. We are going to need it. 4. LSU continues to show new plays and exploit what a defense offers. 5. This ain't going to be a championship year, but it is going to be another top-10 season. Nobody is really torn down about this game. 6. There are 110 teams that would like to trade places with LSU 7. Many of the issues are fixable 8. LSU is not intimidated by a big hostile crowd on national TV. 9. The world loves to see a defensive tackle make an interception and run with the ball. THE BAD 1. The LSU defensive backfield leaves receivers wide open for touchdowns 2. Touchdowns were scored by wide open receivers versus LSU defensive backs. 3. Receivers were left wide open by defensive backs for touchdowns 4. Wide open receivers scored touchdowns on the defensive backs 5. Who had that guy? 6. What are you doing? 7. Who do I cover? 8. Oh, MAN! THE UGLY 1. LSU has no . . . friggin' . . . pass rush. And no effective blitzing. Running into a blocker doesn't help. 2. You can't catch a punt with a friggin' face mask. Game turnaround mistake. 3. Chief's defense cannot stop a top-10 team's 2-minute drill. Not Bama, not Georgia, not Clemson, and not A&M. 4. LSU wastes time outs 5. First half rushing. We can't beat State on the road playing like that. 6. LSU linebackers are ugly in pass coverage. Or as run stoppers. But they sure are fast . . . and their hair is perfect.
Like Stacey says, we had ALL the momentum at that point. We'd just scored the tying TD, then held them to 3-out. I know no one can predict what would have happened on that subsequent drive, but because 'MO' was on our side and we had figured out the UGA D, it's not at all out of the realm of possibility that we score again. If nothing else, it would have taken away a possession from UGA in which they scored a TD; which most likely makes the difference in the game.
Exactly. It sucks that we lost, but that was a damn good college football game. That stadium was rockin' and we stood toe to toe with them, despite how loud a raucous their crowd was. I think the reason no one is really tore down about losing is because we know how good we are an offense and can score on anyone.
Don't just pick on him. He's not the only one. Loston is another one that had a bad game Sat. Might as well change his name to Lostone because he seems lost when trying to determine who to cover.
Eugene and Loston can hit the bench, what do you lose by benching them, Martin as well. Linebackers from this points should be Kwon, Beckwith, maybe Barrow. Secondary should be, Mills (maybe), Rashard Robinson, Thompson, Jefferson, Thomas at Nickel Dline should be Allen, Ego, Freak, Hunter. But thats just part of the problem, on Georgia's last series, we go prevent with linebackers 15 yards off the line of scrimmage, circa Bama and Clemson last year. Chavez, has no faith in this D.
I thought Mills looke awful on Saturday. The hissy fits Martin and Eugene throw after the big plays are gettingol quick. That defense needs a lot of work, and they need to get of each others back.
I pretty much agree with everything here. I would however sit Barrow, he isnt doing #18 any justice. Id just deal with the growing pains of starting Debo. I think White is going to be a damn good CB, he did get beat but is usually in pretty good position. Better than either of the Jalens IMO. Id go with the growing pains in the secondary. I totally agree that Rasco should be the man out on the DL.
