Someone came up with this research on another site: LSU top 10 rated players (last 11 years): 2014: 4 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State with 1 undecided still (1 of Top 5 with 2 to decide) 2013: 6 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State with Jeremy Cutrer not having anything by his name (4 of Top 5) 2012: 7 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (2 of Top 5) 2011: 8 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (really 9 of Top 11 but I excluded Hill since he had his legal troubles and resigned with LSU the following year) (4 of Top 5) 2010: 7 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (1 went to Tulane however) (4 of Top 5) 2009: 6 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (5 of Top 5) 2008: 7 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State with Don Brown not having anyone by his name (3 of Top 5) 2007: 7 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (4 of Top 5) 2006: 7 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in state (4 of Top 5) 2005: 5 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (3 of Top 5) 2004: 6 of the Top 10 players in State stayed in State (4 of Top 5) If we get Dupre, it's 2 out of 5 and 5 out of 10. Not terribly great. Especially not this year when all of our top 5 were all rated in the top 30 in the nation. We have never had a Louisiana class of players this highly touted. It's not the year to miss the mark.
Believe me when I say I am disappointed in the in state misses and in Brown. However I am excited about the guys we have on board and other guys we are in the mix for.
Not that rankings mean that much to me but I can guarantee if Robinson, Noil, Jones and Willis were LSU commits TODAY, LSU would be no worse than #2 and probably #1.
Especially since just glancing at next years crop I think I had to get to 30 to find a player from La. Out of the current 100 (nation) only 3 from Louisiana. Terrible year to swing and miss.
The players currently on board, including those from other States are first class. I wouldn't call it a swing and a miss.
A staff always has players, still tons of players out there. As always, you try to land many instate players, but as always the OOS players help in a large way. Look back at the OOS players over the years
No problem Nancy, look at the players signed in last years class that were Red-Shirted, those players were put into the system and with a year under their belt, should start making movement on the chart. Remember Brockers, Red-Shirted, played only two years and was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft. Oh yes the fence is down, how else are you going to let players from other states into La and LSU?
