Gawdammit. No sooner than I post this then they run the fukkin kick off back for a TD. Broke about 10 damn tackles on the way. Crap! He MAY have stepped out of bounds. I THINK it's being reviewed.
Is Atlanta good?...sure. Is Atlanta a great team?...no. Is Atlanta blowing people away?...no. Is Atlanta fortunate?...definitely! Would it surprise me to see Atlanta win the NFC?...no. Would it surprise me to see Atlanta upset in their first playoff game?...no. Did the Saints have help from heaven last year?...probably. Will Atlanta get help from heaven this year?...definitely not. Will the classless scum called Atlanta sell their soul for a title?...sure!
We are pretty much down to Seattle upsetting them next week. Seattle is a much different team at home than on the road. They must have their WR Williams healthy for that game in order to have a shot.
Why is that? Do they own a tie breaker? If we both win out, then that means we beat them in 2 weeks, we're both 13-3 and 1-1 against each other. At that point, I think it goes to division record, which again we'd be tied for. Then conference record, which again, I think we're tied at. We lost 2 in the NFC (Cards, Falcons) and 1 AFC (Browns). They would've lost 2 NFC (Saints, Eagles) and 1 AFC (Steelers). What's the tie breaker after that? Or am I wrong about the above scenario?
I'm up late with a sick kid and been wondering about this myself. According to ESPN, the first tiebreaker is head to head, second is division record, and third is common opponents. The Saints and Falcons common opponents are: Pittsburgh, Arizona, San Fran., Cleveland, Cincinnati, Tampa, Baltimore, St. Louis, Carolina and Seattle. So far, the Saints are 8-2 against this list, the Falcons are 9-1. The Saints still have to play Baltimore and Tampa, the Falcons have to play Seattle and Carolina. So if the Saints win out and so does Atlanta (except for losing to the Saints), the Saints will be 10-2 against common opponents and the Falcons will be 11-1. Losing to AZ and Cleveland is going to bite the Saints in the butt.
Yep. Atl is a much better team, but you've got them travelling cross country to face a team that will be fighting for its playoff life. I don't hold much optimism, but the situation sets up for a possible Seattle win.
