I'm not even going to read the rest of the thread because I already know what it's about. You might be the absolute worst thread starter in the history of the internet.

Dude, seriously...In an attempt at fairness I try to take the things that you and everyone else post seriously and not get annoyed but I can't help it when you do it wrong every single time. I am sure both martin and red have called you out on it already in this thread and have also done it in almost every single other thread you have ever started. Take a position, form an opinion, give people something to argue about, DO SOMETHING. Stop posting random links with no information or input on it at all. I've never ever reported anyone on any message board for anything ever but your ignorance for the way the internet works is pushing me pretty close to the edge.

Go ahead and explain it to us. Maybe you can explain what 5 of the roughly 15 or 20 major factors are that influence the value of the dollar, and how they relate to each other. Is the dollar purely a function of what we do in america, or is it jointly a function of what we do and what other nations are doing with their fiscal and monetary policy? Just splain away.

What steps will you take to live your life and deal with the value of the dollar?

What is happening to the trade deficit now that the savings rate has gone from -1% annually to 5% annually? Does that affect the value of the dollar? What is the size of the budget deficit vs. the trade deficit, both this year and next year, and the year after that?

You realize Steve Forbes ran for president on the repub ticket and he's a propagandist for the right.

Why was the dollar lower against the Euro 3 years ago, even though the budget deficit is much larger than it was 3 years ago?

Where were all the "conservatives" the last 8 years while Bush doubled the deficit and cratered the dollar and helping bring us $150 oil, after a mild recession in 2001? They held the WH and congress for 6 years, 2001-2006 and blew up the economy, broke it the worst since the great depression, hand it to Obama and complain about the deficit. That's rich!

Rant over, back to the dollar. Any insight you can provide will be appreciated.

America is a post-industrial country. Once we were agricultural, then we were industrial, now we are an knowledge/information based economy. It's different, but not necessarily bad. we have fewer blue-collar jobs, but more white-collar ones.

But it would be self-defeating, since we are their prime customer and it would immediately and adversely affect their economy, too. Also they must be very careful not to provoke a war with the US since our navy can blockade China effectively, stopping their income, most of which comes from overseas exports. In the long run their investment is safer here than anywhere which is why they bought the fed notes in the first place.

The expect that we will continue to be the most stable government and economy on the planet.

Where else are they going to park a trillion dollars and not have to worry about losing it? They are invested here because their investment is safe here.

They may be concerened, but if they are concerned about investment in the dollar then any other investment is much scarier.
