One thing I'm happy about with this LSU team ... they are not prone to turnovers .. but are darn good and forcing them.

Of course .. who knows ... all could change in the next month. The way things are going, TRichardson will be out of the game with a broken pinky or something. IF I were Trent .. I"d be very careful ... a toe stump is just a step away. :D

LSU is +11 in turnover margin (#1 in SEC) and Bama is +3.

The Oregon game more than anything. We allowed 14 points to them when we were so far ahead and had we not put on the brakes as far as pressuring them, we could have kept them to 13 points and 225-250 yards, instead of the 330 yards they ended up with (and the 27 points). I really hated that last second TD they got, because nobody cared at that point. We just wanted the game to end without injuries.

The WVU game plan was to keep everything in front of us. Did it work? Yes in terms of keeping them adequately off the scoreboard, no in terms of yardage given up. Ultimately you play to win and it was the correct strategy. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened with our usual pressuring man defense, I have to think they would have had a lot of trouble.

We also gave Kentucky 7. That should have been a shutout.

Either Bama has never put much of their reserves on the field late in ball games or their reserves are just outstanding, either way they have not had the issue of garbage stats/scores at the end of ballgames. In addition they also played much more inferior offenses than we have, making it much easier for them to end their games cleanly.

As I hear it, they are also number 1 in pass protection, witht he least # of allowed sacks by the opposing defense.

That's a pretty good stat to have on your side facing a Bama Defense.

As noted, to win, our offense is going to have to execute a balanced attack. That will require good pass protection for Lee and JJ, to losen up the LBs a bit to allow for Ware Co. to make some gains on the ground.

    I see it happening!! :geaux:

Karma is important. Aginst uo and Florida you could see it. You could see everything clicking for lsu. On the other hand ,aginst Kentucky ,that good karma wasn't there. We did win handly but we looked just like last years team in many ways. Penalities, drops and poor passing but great defense. If we look like the Florida game all the rest of our games we will beat everyone. If we look like we did on offense aginst Kentucky in a game with top opponets we will drop a game.

We may actually get a good running game against them. Maybe not. But the way to beat them with it is to stay with it and keep pounding them in the mouth. Most teams from what I have seen this year have abandon the running game with Bama. Who knows, if we stay with it, providing it is a close game we may be able to use our multiple backs to break them down. I am still scared of them tho.

Put stamply and copeland smashing through the line over and over. If our two big mean arse fullbacks can't wear them down they can't be worn down.

I keep banking on the possibility that they have not faced a big physical offensive line like ours yet. I mean ... maybe Penn State ... but Vandy, AR, Florida, Kent State ...none of these teams put up much of a fight on the front line. Of course, it could be that Bama's front is just so awsome, you can't put up a fight against them .. but we'll see.

IMO .. LSU's offense is a hell of lot more talented than people give them credit. I think this is because the Defense is so awsome, that people forget that this Offense is executing a winning strategy that is producing points. I don't think the defense scored any against FL, whereas Bama benefited from 1 TD off an int.

And .. I think Richardson has a harder time of it against LSU due to good tackling and the Size/Speed factor. Just ask LaMichael James! .. He's averaging 9.0 yrds/carry for the season .. only got 3 yrds/carry against LSU. Granted, he's a different style runner ... speed and open space, but if our front Seven give him a struggle, it will force Bama to go to their air, and that is just dangerous against LSU's secondary. We gave up a lot of yrds to WVU, but we also got two interceptions.

    I agree :thumb:

I have visions of Stampley lifting their linebackers up off the ground with a few power blocks. I mean, that guy is a truck!!

It's the beauty of the power I. .. and probably why both LSU and Bama are so successful at running the ball.

If lsu gets two interceptions off of bama I think we win. For bama to be throwing the ball enough for them to give up two interceptions their running game was shut down. We shut down the bama running game and we shut down the bama offense.
