A pretty interesting Washington Times article on Mike from 2003: The contract situation is slightly outdated, but to be compared to Steve Spurrier and praised by Bob Stoops is impressive. I think this guy's just itching for a shot at a top-flight program.
Leach will get no major HC job anytime soon, probably never. He is a bear in a bull market. His agent musta wrote that load of crap. May as well hire the Boise HC as his assistant.
Didn't Leach run up the score on Navy last year in the (what was it?) Houston Bowl? He was running fake punts, etc. late in the 4th quarter. Plus, look at him--not a very impressive-looking figure. Texas Tech can keep him.
You're right...and he got a lot of heat over the Navy game. But, he put 70 on the corncobbers this year. Gotta give him props for that, I guess. :thumb:
Except that when he puts up 50 points in a game, the other team sometimes puts up 51. There's nothing I hate in football worse than a team that can't stop other teams from scoring. Think back to the Lou Tepper days at LSU. Sam King wrote a column in The Advocate the day following an embarrassing loss to Ole Miss in '98, "Ole Miss won the toss to start the game--and elected to score." That's a Mike Leach team for you.
Give him the athletes we have at LSU and Will Muschamp as DC and it would be interesting to see how he does. Some say he has a gimmick offense, but it worked really well while he was the OC at OU under Stoops. Not suggesting we should hire him, but his offensive numbers are always outrageous...
