Nah, me and USM we're arguing about the actual IAFF organization as a whole, which has nothing to do with voting. Your links, do however.
I go away for a few days, and get attacked while I can't defend myself. How's that fair? I had a great debate last night in Washington D.C. Some guy named Dave that owns a bar up there...anyway, he considered himself to be an independent. It made for great conversation. We both remarked, after a couple of hours of going back and fourth on just about every issue, that neither of us ever got mad at each other, or became aggressive. Why were we able to do this? Simple. Because we are both connected by our shared citizenship. Even though our personal beliefs on the issues are quite different, that does not take away from our strongest bond of both being proud Americans. What's my point you may ask. Well, I'll tell you...I explained my stance on islam to him. Of course, he didn't care for it. He tried to turn it around, using our differences (between him and I) to defend the muslim countries. The difference between us, and them (islamic states), is citizenship. They seek to destroy our way of life. They want to take away from us what or founding fathers worked so hard to establish. They seek to impose their twisted religion on everyone else in the world....by force. In order to protect what is ours, we only have one choice left,...attack and destroy that which would seek to destroy us. Now, I'm not saying we have to destroy every single muslim. If they're not a threat, we leave them alone. What other options are there? I'm truely asking here. A lot of you put down my "hard line" solution to the muslim threat, but I don't see where anyone else is pitching a solution, besides our friend martin suggesting that we just do away with all religion across the board. Most people just point how screwed up our current strategy is, or tell others how their solution will never work. Where are the other answers? It's easy to say the other guy is doing it wrong, but what I would like to see is an example of how we can do it better. By the way, they've really cleaned up D.C. Not near as many bums sleeping on the streets, and M street is no where near as fun as it used to be. Now, if only they could rid themselves of all the scumbag politicians.......
The soloution to all the world's problems is free trade. If we had free trade everyone would be richer and care less about stupid Gazza strips and West Banks, but that is as fanciful as salty's. I have said many times we should take on terrorists head on with special forces in Afganistan, Pakistan, Somalia, and the Phillipines. We should use our treasure to support moderate and pro-westarn movements in the Muslim countries. Why we haven't flexed our muscle in Saudi Arabia is beyond me. We should use our supperior air power and navy to cripple government's that work against American interests.
to be clear, my solution is attained through dialogue, not killing. not that i am opposed to killing or anything, but i think a better long term solution is to change the way we talk about religion, to stop respecting faith for faith's sake, to treat religion like any other made up fantasy. mysticism and sorcery, their time has passed. when the world no longer needs religion, it will be harder to find ways to divide into opposing groups. this is true as well.
Dead on. It is still beyond me why we haven't held them to the standards we have held other countries.
I've been wondering the same about Mexico for years. Saudi Arabia has been oil so whats the excuse for Mexico?
I'm not aware of too many Mexicans with ties to Al Quida. They might be coming up here and cutting my grass for really cheap, but they aren't blowing up shopping malls.
I'm not entirely sure, since they seem to hate our existence. However, I have had a plan for a long time that would have HUGE benefits for us. We should either move or recreate all of the key Christian holy places in Israel, and put them in Vegas. THEN, we can genuinely not give a rat's ass what happens to that contested place. And hey, who doesn't like Vegas? :hihi: Cheap flights, cheap land, the world's finest replicating architects. This plan would work.
