Looks like LSU doesn’t want him either and he’s been told that. He signed an extension today. I’m thinking Woodward has his guy.
Do you have a link where Tucker signed an extension? I only see 2 articles from Michigan State websites claiming a deal 'is in the works' but it is unconfirmed: That doesn't sound solid at this point. https://spartanswire.usatoday.com/2...-term-extension-with-michigan-state-football/
I think the Mel Man would have his doubts . He could win ten championships here and he’ll never get past being the poster child for LSU making history for hiring a black coach . He might not want to be a part of that social justice b s. IF Sparty comes within reason of what LSU could pay him , he might not budge . If he ends up here , he’s the 3 rd choice ( maybe 4 th - word prob came down from the Mount way early— NO Laneykins)
Win or Lose, pulling Riley would be a hell of a move by Woodward. It seems like Brad Davis would be good to keep. Maybe Blake Baker with LBs (I think he’s been identified as a plus). Apparently Austin Thomas is Woodward’s guy (per Culotta); I’m not sure, but we did have success when he was here previously. I like the idea of having a strong “general manager”. I don’t like McMahon on STs, our return game is terrible (good return game can be a big starting field position advantage). Kicking has been good, but that’s only half the puzzle. I’m not sold on Joseph (if we need a recruiting guy I’d hope we somehow lure Frank Wilson back). WRs haven’t been bad (though outside of Boutte and Bech look inconsistent), but I’m hesitant to attribute that to Joseph. Im ready to try a new strength coach, feels like time has passed ol Moffitt by. DL has been awesome, but not sure I attribute that to Carter. Maybe. Kinda hard to say, but O might have been right on the 4-man front, our DL has been a beast against the run (mostly). Seems like our DC might own some of the credit here (and a world where DC, DL, LB, and DB coach is retained). So, on to Jones. This year has been hit/miss, but he’s had a few games (ahem, Bama) that were spot on. Would a Riley want to keep the DC staff that’s in place? Might be tough for whoever the new guy is, especially with a culture that seems a little wobbly (focused on the NFL, not LSU). Which leads me to Raymond, the legend. He has overseen DBU. Also the room that seems most focused on the “me” in team. Fuckin… Stingley is a hell of a player, but I feel like his dad was a cancer. I think it spread to Ricks and other key injuries on defense. Raymond might not have been able to handle that aspect of it, which is concerning. But I could push this off to the DC/HC and say Raymond’s value as a technician outweighs his lack of intrapersonal skills. All that to say what is obvious to most; keeping Raymond is probably a no-brainer. Another no-brainer I’m not sure I agree with is Faulk. IMO his unit has consistently underperformed. Maybe that’s on the OL, but I just don’t see him elevating the RB room. Also, hopefully the new guy can assemble a strong shadow staff. Probably missing some folks here, but wanted to get these thoughts out of my head.
I don't understand the knocks on Joseph as a position coach. He became WR coach in 2017 so he's been the position coach of Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Terrance Marshal, and Boutte. That's pretty damn strong. And he's a big recruiter. I want to keep him
i dont know how to measure this but the last 2+ days the lincoln riley noise has been off the charts. not just from the forums either. thatd be the biggest fish on the docket.
