Think or Swim option trading system inside TD Ameritrade, sometimes they talk about football in between puts and covered calls.
A nice guy to meet? Sure. Not a racist bone in his body? Honorable? You're off here, by a large margin.
2nd, you said qualifications are all that is needed and like it or not I know enough to be qualified so I should get an equal shot. That is your argument. Mine on the other hand is do you take Sean Payton or Louie Smith? Do you take Dabo or Sylvester Crooms? Like it or not those black coaches didn't fail because they were black. They failed because they are shitty coaches. Qualified sure, just not very good.[/QUOTE] Disagree, Most of these schools that Blacks Coaches get are NOT premier jobs, Mich St, Miss St, ULL,Penn St etc. Saban wins because he has several blacks coaches on his staff and he/they can recruit. Saban got his ass beat to death in Miami. Bama wins because they are 3 deep with 4-5 Star Athletes. PERIOD. Cover 2 is Cover 2, however it looks different when you have 5 star athletes running around.
More accurately, you didn't have a clue when you posted, "He was one of the nicest and most honorable guys you ever want to meet. Didn't have a racist bone in his body." As stated earlier, you're right in saying he's a nice guy to meet. However, "not a racist bone in his body" is way off the mark. It played out in the media, in front of everyone's eyes, in the spring of 2003. If a person plays the race card, there's more than a racist bone found in his body. In that alone "honorable" is out the window.
What was his winning percentage in Miami? .470 or something around that? It was certainly average for Miami but it certainly was not getting his ass beat to death. Cameron at 1-15? That's an ass being beaten. I think there has been three coaches in Miami's history that have a better winning percentage (having coached at least one season: ) Shula, Johnson, and Wannstedt. Funny thing is if Miami's medical staff would have approved Brees we may have never seen him back in the collegiate ranks. One of those things we'll never know.
"Most" doesn't seem like the best word to use here. However, I don't buy into the notion they haven't been hired at some of the premier jobs. Penn State with Franklin. Notre Dame with Willingham. Florida State with Taggert (as well as Oregon.) Texas with Strong. It's always been intriguing to me seeing people talk about black head coaches but we seldom see mention of black athletic directors. It's just one of those stories that leaves a lot scratching their heads. While it's not what we'd call a premier football school who takes note of Vanderbilt? Two of their ten head coaches in history have been black, their last three athletic directors were also, and the school has around 11% of its student body "identify" as black. (The last time I 'did the math' I think just over 40% of the AD's Vandy has hired have been black.)
