1. Respectfully disagree. Woodward handled this masterfully (so far) from a public relations point of view. They probably could have tried to fire Oeaux with cause, but realized a lot of embarrassing dirty laundry that neither LSU or Orgeron wants public would have surfaced. Ed’s happy he gets his $ and LSU moves on. Best chance to save the recruiting class. The recruits knew what was going on, so you would look like a fool to lie to them to tell them otherwise. Now, sell them on LSU, not on a coach. The players on the team who love LSU can help sell the team.

  2. I agree with pretty much everything you've said. I just think that the ultimate outcome is mostly determined by who he gets next. The act of getting rid of O is only as good as his replacement. And so far, things don't sound great for the replacement, in my opinion. Woodward has handled the public affairs portion of this well, but to me, it's a blunder to fire O without a very strong replacement locked up.

  3. Odds to be the next LSU coach (@SportsBettingAG):

    Lane Kiffin +250
    Luke Fickell +550
    Billy Napier +700
    Jimbo Fisher +750
    Bill O'Brien +850
    Mark Stoops +850
    Bob Stoops +900
    James Franklin +950
    Joe Brady +1000
    Mel Tucker +1200
    Dave Aranda +1400
    Urban Meyer +1400
    Jon Gruden +10000
  4. No Jimbo, of the 6 he’d be last.
No Kiffen, he was in the middle of chaos at Tennessee this weekend; too volatile.

  5. Didn't see the game and haven't seen any video, so I only know about that as it was described. Are you saying it was Kiffin's fault?
  6. Yes the ultimate outcome is the quality of the replacement. And no matter who is selected, there will be blowback. If it is a black head coach, some will say it was a sellout to please the majority black team or as a PC move. If it’s a “name” coach some will fault it saying he is over the hill, over rated, or just plain lucky. If an up-and-comer there will be criticism because he lacks experience and is not a name.
Woodward made his decision not because of the wins & losses but because the off-the-field issues were getting uncontrollable. The decision was made and Oeaux was going to go even if we won out. So it came down to a matter of timing and how to handle in a way not to further embarrass either party. By doing it now, we are sending a clear signal to all head coaches and their agents that there is high paying tier 1 opportunity for them in Baton Rouge. Who knows, there may be some guys out there that none of us considered and who now may be telling their agent to discreetly inquire.
  7. Relax man, we are in October. I doubt any real conversations are taking place yet. I wouldn't get too twisted up around who said what just yet.

No Tucker though, he can stay with Sparty
