Franklin is not a fit here neither is Shaw. Neither is Mel tillis. So that narrows the list. Dance with who brung ya. Lane should be out bc he’s a punk.
Depends on what motivates him. He's only in his second year at Baylor and has them on the upswing. In 2 years, when Okie and Texas leave the Big 12, Baylor's path to a playoff bid gets that much easier. I know it will hurt his overall strength of schedule annually, but for everyone but Alabama, the first rule of making the playoffs is, win your conference. Sure, LSU can offer him a lot more money, but the level of competition is a huge step up from the Big 12 and he already knows that. In two years, his biggest competition will be ..... Cincinnati, which addresses your Fickell thought. He may feel some burn if they get snubbed this year, but he'll also know the cure is getting into a Power 5 conference, which he does in 2 years without having to leave his current job. If I'm wrong about Aranda, the ranking I did above becomes 1. Franklin 2. Aranda 3. Kiffin 4. Tucker
Starting to look like Woodward didn’t really know what he was doing when he fired O. If Fickell has already said no, he better be getting Riley. There was no reason to fire O and put 3 years of faith into Franklin. That’s a Sure fire way to go back to mediocrity. I could live with Aranda or Tucker, but I don’t want to just live with a coaching hire.
On the flip side, he couldn't keep O employed. As more and more of these stories come out, it will make more and more sense. If 9-8 after the natty wasn't enough, the off the field issues were over the top. It may be a while before LSU wins another national championship, but Orgeron certainly wasn't going to bring us another one. Woodward could not stand by and let LSU fall further into the abyss. On the field, we found ourselves as fans hoping for mediocrity the last 2 years, because the alternative was worse. Enough was enough and this had to happen.
I'm hearing it differently. Woodward is executing the plan he has already used successfully at Stanford. Didn't count on the university president suddenly sticking his nose in. Riley is not leaving Norman unless its for the NFL. Franklin would be an excellent hire.
Agree, and as far as jobs go, LSU is a pretty easy one. Louisiana has 14 players in the top 200 on 247, Pennsylvania has 6. And Pennsylvania doesn't have proximity to Texas, Florida, Georgia, et al. A good coach elsewhere is a better coach at LSU.
