That is the reason they demand $M in guarantee. We are no diff than any other program with NC level funding. Where we differ is the thumbs in our asses ADs that take verbal commitments over writing for weeks if not months and get played. Then end up with whoever is left. Results not unexpected. Lookin more and more like SSDD to me with Woody.
So when LSU had the big announcement with Orgeron & Woodward about Oeaux stepping down, they said it was all about not living up to the LSU standard. Not a word about the off-the-field stuff. Did you believe it? I surely didn’t. Since the NC and his divorce, Oeaux has been like a ticking time bomb ready to go off with the team & university likely being collateral damage. I liked Oeaux, and still do. He brought us a NC and his love for LSU is sincere. But LSU moving on from Oeaux had to happen. The separation was not about a 75% win record.
@Hou-duco If we had picked up last season right where we left off in 2019, do you think anyone would care about the off-the-field stuff?
No I never bought it for a minute. I think it was part of the deal. O said I'll do everything I can to make this smooth; and keep the recruits; and talk up the program; and play nice; BUT you can't make this a 'for cause' or play up my personnel issues as a reason for the firing. AND I get my 17MM
The national narrative could change with the wind, but this move was widely reported in a positive light; LSU is a top 5 job in college football (maybe top 5/10 in all of football), especially considering the two idiots prior won NC after Saban. That is the narrative, with Alleva/past admin taking a lot of shit. Woodward is also regarded highly nationally. That changes IF we fuck this up.
That was a tactful coup by Woodward. Locally we know the dirt but that allowed O to save some face publicly.
The chaos involving the OC & DC and the position coaches was all on Orgeron. That said, with the exception of Peetz, his other hires last year all seem to have been solid.
