Very likely he wasn’t. He’s had jumbo locked up long before this. where you at Brian. Come take your medicine.
Okay, I've thought about this way too much over the last couple days. Since they haven't announced, there has to be a reason. Possible it's someone that may be tied up in the playoff picture. Despite the denials, I think it's Fickell or.... Woodward whiffed on his top two or three guys and now it's a giant cluster (again). If Woodward has his man, and it's not a playoff coach, we'll know by the end of the week. If it's a giant cluster make some popcorn......
Because his contract runs through 22 so they think he is gettable I guess. I don't see that happening either. OU has a history of hiring assistant coaches for the HC gig, lets see if that holds
Carolina with an open date next weekend, Panthers going nowhere fast. Wednesday presser, Matt Rhule named coach, brings back Brady.
Texas will, OU will not, once all the smoke clears they will get a coach. Recruits will come back or there will be new ones. Excellent move by LR, he will keep many of those west coast players. I am having Les Miles hiring flashbacks for LSU.
A little thought has been tapping on the back of my brain and is fighting its way to the front. I want to be wrong on this, so I'll share it with the group, and you can tell me how wrong I am with no feelings hurt. It goes all the way back to 2015 or so, when the "fire Les" train was rolling but I wasn't on board yet. Thought went something like, "If we tell the country that a 75% (or whatever it was) winning percentage and a national championship isn't good enough, what coach will want to come here?" Well, we've fired that guy twice now, and look where we are. Go ahead, let me have it.
Yeah but we haven't. That was an old tired line from the guy that "had lunch with a scout" it was bullshit then and it is bullshit now. Les needed to go. Think about this, he got the kickoff in that Auburn game with over 3 minutes on the clock AND ALL THREE TIME OUTS!!! Let that sink in and then come to the realization that time freaking expired with us taking the L. I've seen MAC schools score 3 times each with that much time on the clock and no timeouts. Les needed to go. O needed to go as well. It was clear that he was in over his head and I think coaches understand this. What I think coaches will see is the talent that is here to be had. We were always missing the QB, well that isn't a problem anymore. The car is in the garage just waiting for someone to drive the sumbitch. That guy will come, temper the expectations and the "We have to get a big name" bullshit and let it play out.
I wish I thought you were wrong - but I do think it could be part of the evaluation. Especially if someone is comparing us to OK, who has been very stable. Stability is not a quality associated with LSU at this time. I don't just mean the HC; our OC and DC positions have been the definition of caos. I think we may have to go the stupidly-guaranteed-contract route (a/k/a Jimbo/TAMU clause) to mitigate that concern.
