I don’t think Shane has ever claimed to be an “insider”. He’s giving us perspective from OU land. I think he’s right. OU is coming to the realization that they don’t want to lose their guy (and Woodward has effectively made this very real for them) and there are legit concerns for OU when it comes to transitioning to the SEC. What I don’t share with Shane is that we'll be left holding the bag. I think ol Woody is ten steps ahead.
And If Woodward is left holding the bag, it won’t be empty. If reports are true, it will have 12 million in it. I don’t think he’s going to have a hard time getting a big fish to coach here for a million a month. I think the smoke surrounding Riley is true, but I’m holding off until I see our new coach at the podium. Been down this road too many times recently. I’m terrified we end up with O’Brien or Mark Stoops.
A legit candidate that the Woodman wanted should have surfaced by now . That there’s nothing no buzz is not encouraging . The Woodman is milking the notion he has all the answers — he clearly does not. If Aranda were interested the buzz by now would be strong. My guess he saw too much shit storm here while DC he and the wife figure he can do better if patient. If OU wants to keep Riley they will. That looks 50-50 at best . How many jump balls in coaching choices has LSU won in oh say .... the last 60 years? Where am I going with this ? Glad you asked -the only CAPABLE coach interested in coming here ? Laneykins— hold your nose , cross your fingers and hide the Golden Girls .
I’d be all for that. We’ve seen consistent improvement from them throughout the year, even through all the injuries.
