Yeah, dude, I based my opinion of Matt Leinart on one game. That would be typical of me, right?

He's 25-1 over the last two years after sitting behind a Heisman Trophy Winner and a #1 NFL pick. He is the best QB in college football - bar none. If you were to assemble an All-Star team right now and you did not put Leinart at the QB spot you are out of your mind. The kid may have struggled "mightily" as you say (I say that's a bit of an overstatement), but he gets it done and he knows how to lead his team and manage the game.

At the end of the day, ML is the best QB in college football from top to bottom, head to toe. There are lots of mega-talents out there who deserve credit or are on their way to deserving credit, but right now Leinart is the gold standard - that is a fact.

Please, let's not go down this tired road again. Let's just focus on 2005.

As a graduate of LSU with a degree in Journalism, I can say that unless you've ever done the job you can kiss my a$$. Secondly, it is people like you who are willing to settle for mediocrity that keep these journalists who "suck" from getting any better. We shouldn't have to "deal with it". I don't think anyone was saying that USC didn't deserve to be #1. The argument being presented was that their schedule was getting too much respect.

Get down! And keep those letters raining into idiots like Steward Mandel and others. But make sure your points are clear and valid. Until we get the girls of Troy on the field and settle it once and for all, I say we raise hell on the boards and get our fair share of the press. Do not sit quietly by and watch LSU get slighted. It's like our 2003 BCS Championship never existed anymore. That's unacceptable!

This is really pretty ridiculous for me to even waste my time talking about this, so I'll keep my points short.

I don't know you or what effort you put into watching a player play before you declare him the best in the nation, so don't ask me.

The fact that Carson Palmer was there before him and won a Heisman has absolutely nothing to do with Leinart. Neither does his record prove he's the best QB in the nation. It doesn't take a logic course to know that your arguments are seriously flawed (although I did take one in college if it will make you feel better to know that). Believe it or not, every Heisman winner has someone at his position waiting to play when he leaves, yet they all can't be the best in the nation at their respective positions. And just because someone has a great winning record doesn't make them the best, especially considering the competition he's up against on a week to week basis. Matt Mauck was 18-2 as a starter at LSU in a much tougher conference, yet is considered by most to have been only a good QB. Go figure.

So the implication here is that you've watched every single starting college football quarterback thoroughly enough to make that judgement, which I'm sure you have, right? Cuz without having seen everyone else play, then you can't say for sure that he's the best. That, my friend, is a fact.

I have done the job so put your ass away.

It is my opinion that Matt Leinart is college football's best QB. It is my opinion. Draw your own conclusions.

I mentioned Carson Palmer because I found it impressive that ML was on the ball so quickly after sitting behind such a solid QB who saw all the reps and attention. I should have been more clear - my point was that he impressed me with how quickly he was able to jump behind the wheel and steer the ship without a lengthy learning process. He is not the first and he will not be the last to follow a great QB and exceed expectations, but I was impressed with how fluid the transition was (credit Norm Chow as well).

I also want to clarify that I believe USC's schedule gets way too much pub and is severely overrated - I'm in agreement on that.

Based on raw skills, results, ability to lead, character, game management, accuracy, minimizing turnovers, fully understanding a particular system, big play potential, distribution of the football all over the field, the ability to make every throw, vision, and results, I believe Leinart has set the bar.

I have no affinity for USC, and other than the fact that he seems like a great kid, I have no desire to see Matt Leinart lead his team to another great year. I actually think this USC team loses twice.

I simply wanted to clear up my previous points. Beyond that, maybe you can offer your opinion of who the best QB in football is and we can proceed with a good-natured discussion.

I say ML is the best. I think Leak is a super talent who may end up a victim of change and lack of time to fully bloom as a QB. I like Leak and would like to see him have the opportunity to really sling the football around (not to the detriment of LSU of course). I thought Grossman really took it on the chin via a system change and I hope we get to really see what Leak can do.

Oh, yeah - and I can't wait to see what this guy they call JaMarcus Russell is truly made of...

I hate to say it, but journalistic credibility in the sports world has been residually leveraged by political bias.

CNN, SI or MSNBC is not going to fall in love with a team from fly-over country.

I'll forever praise Houston Nutt if he can pull off a defeat of USC.
