It was an AWESOME fest, my favorite next to the Double IPA Fest to open SF Beer Week in February. The fest winner was Drake's Brewing's Brette Davis Eyes, a Belgian blonde in a Merlot barrel that they hit with Brett yeast. A GREAT sour, really dry finish, fo sho, brewed by my friend Brian Thorsen. Most of the beers were only locally tap available beers, some notable exceptions were Firestone Walker's Black Xantus and Rodenbach Grand Cru, along with Jack and Ken's 30th anniversary beer for Sierra Nevada. We're really lucky to have so many good breweries out here, but hell, this is where the small brewing revolution all started. And I've enjoyed it since 1984, meeting a number of brewers through the years that I fraternize with to this day.
I need to make it out that way. What is a good site or source to keep track of all of the festivals that take place out there? Houston had a "beer fest" during the summer. They served Bud Light.........enough said!
I discovered the bourbon barrel beers this year while in Kentucky. Kentucky brewing bourbon barrel ale, and Bluegrass brewing bourbon barrel stout. Both tasty, and both pack a punch.
Brookston Beer Bulletin Get in touch with me before ya come and I'll buy ya a good beer. :hihi: We can talk Tigah football.
Zapp's International Beer Festival is scheduled for March 24th. I get to go this year!! :thumb: Also, Abita is FINALLY getting ready to launch their canned beer. Just in time for Mardi Gras parades!
I would love to go to this one year….but it seems that they always schedule it the one weekend I got something going on. I think it is a conspiracy.
Last year it conflicted with the Happy's 5K and half of my volunteer team showed up drunk! But I begged the guys not to let that happen this year, and they came through for me.
