Augustiner, my absolute favorite. I don't think it can be found over here in the lager/hellas, so if anyone has seen it, please give me a shout.
I have been working on my 200 beer plate at the flying saucer, and usually try to get there at slow hours. Often the breweries send their own people to hook up the kegs, lines, etc and since the place is usually pretty dead I sometimes get to talking to them. Recently one came in from Scotland from a place called Brewdog and we were talking about strong beer. I was "bragging" about the ~15% double IPA I had just downed, which didn't seem to impress him at all. He told me that last year, Brewdog had brewed a >40% double IPA (I forget the name), and this year they were brewing a 36% double IPA called "Atomic Penguin", or something like that. I was shocked, I couldn't believe something that strong could still be considered beer. Anyone had anything that was that strong? How was it?
Got word yesterday that Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager (I call it "Strawbita") is back on the shelves! Also, my friend introduced me to a beer called Grimbergen not too long ago. They have one kind at Chimes, but I don't know which brew it is. It's got a sweetness to it, I like it. I have to give him a hard time about it, though, 'cause it's got a little lady picture next to it on the menu which means that it's a 'girly beer'.
I had some honey mead that was that strong...taste like ****. When it comes to alcohol content, I rather a lower number. I find that the higher the number the worst the beer.
meh, I just prefer a nice full flavor beer that has 4%-7% over one that has 18%+. Drinking something that taste like **** that has a high alcohol content is like eating the hottest wings on the menu. You do it to brag about it, not because you enjoy them. I do love a wing that makes my nose run and bring tears to my eyes though. :angryfire
