If you really think Bama is going to have titles vacated because of this, then you need to have your head examined.
The pain comes not so much from vacated titles, but how NCAA sanctions can cripple your program. Bama, of all schools, should be well aware of this. USC is now a shell of what it was in the early-mid 2000's. Having said that, I fully expect nothing to come of this.
regarding Miami, their punishment is still yet to be announced, but it's coming. the NCAA Committee on Infractions had their hearing on it 3 months ago, and UNC waited 4 1/2 months between hearing and the announcement of their punishment as for Manziel, there was no hard evidence of him getting paid. was there hard evidence of Cam getting paid? if so, nobody told me about it did you even read the Yahoo article? they show you the hard evidence of Fluker being paid, he got caught red-handed you get paid, you're ineligible. when an ineligible player plays, those wins that player played in are all vacated. I just skimmed, but it looks like all they have on Fluker started in 2012, so that is just one title Bama will have vacated it'll be similar to the Bama text book scandal punishment announced in 2009... with the football team ordered to vacate wins between the 2005 and 2007 seasons...but they didn't have any scholarships reduced justed based on the hard evidence in that Yahoo article, Bama likely is looking at LEAST having one national title vacated, and some light punishment on top of that
USC's 2004 title was the only one in which Bush was proved to be ineligible and was vacated, not the 2003 one. The USC football team was forced to vacate the final two wins of its 2004 national championship season, as well as all of its wins in 2005.
I hate to say it, but I agree that I don't think Saban knew anything about it. He might be willing to do just about anything to win, but I really don't think he's stupid enough to risk his legacy. But ... if they vacate 2011, I'm so fucking claiming it.
Nothing is going to happen. Did it induce penalties when Cam Newton + AU was found to be paid by outside individuals? NO AU retains its BCSNC...
lots of bama/saban hugging going on here. bama played an ineligible player, by virtue of receiving cash benefits & other, in 2 NC games & nothing's gonna happen?
I understand that there is a money trail and it is not just hearsay, which is what the SI exposé has been so far. It sounds like someone has given up the goods. Would that speed up the "Process"? I am sure Bama will jump out ahead of the NCAA and offer up some meaningless self punishment like no more funneling of highschool coaches to schools in talent rich areas to direct recruits Bama's way.
