"Don't ask me any more questions about this." Last line as he walks out, after no one asked questions about the game and only about the article was.. "I appreciate your interest in the game!"
To be honest, I don't blame him one bit for handling it the way he did. Handled it quite well, I might add. That doesn't mean I'm not happy all this is on him.
Michael Casagrande, AL.com: --Saban is here and we're underway. ... --"I made a statement, don't ask me any more questions about it," Saban said with increased volume. --Saban is unhappy with questions about the Yahoo story. --“I’ve already answered it three times, so who else … Can we get in a line and everybody asks a question? We will handle it appropriately. Bill made a statement. This is an administrative issue that our leadership will do a very, very good job of managing. If you want to talk about the Texas A&M game, I’ll be glad to talk about it. That’s what I’m here to do. I’m here to coach our players and talk about our team.” --There were no more questions. --An unhappy Saban left the podium with "I appreciate your interest in the game." Lauren Bagley Grow up, Saban. Andrew Chiappazzi There are proper, understandable times for a coach to skip out on a press conference (Jim Mora/UCLA). Saban & Alabama tonight is not one. Alex Riggins Saban. What a douche.
Three thoughts: 1. This is not something to crow loudly about. Boosters are out there trying to pay our players, too. This could be us quicker than you can say Lester Earl. 2. The NCAA cannot make anybody testify under oath. If the principals refuse to talk with the NCAA or deny everything, nothing will happen because of the Cam Newton precedent. Just ask Johnny Autograph. 3. This coming on top of the recruiting scandal that cost Bama three years of lost scholarships and the team scandals that cost them two years of vacated wins all within the last 8 years . . . has to be making our Crimson friends worry about the dreaded "lack of institutional control" charge that can lead to the death penalty.
Probably not, but Bama is still on probation so who knows. Would be funny as hell though if they had to vacate 2 National titles.
That's what I'm getting at. Does the NCAA have the power to make such a ruling, that 2 national titles would be vacated?
