hypothetical question and stop me if Im off track here.. would be in poor taste to build a new church on the Branch Davidian compound?
The correct question would be about the taste of building a Janet Reno FBI Branch Headquarters at the compound.
Thats just it, no one would care because it's a church. The only reason people give a damn about New York is because it's a mosque. People tend to forget there were quite a few Muslim Americans who burned in those buildings also. I don't think they should because something is going to happen down there. Can you imagine how many protesters are going to be down there daily? I mean the 9-11 conspiracy theorists are littered all around that area already, now the anti muslim people are going to be down there constantly, something bad is going to end up happening, and it could all be avoided if they just said "hey, maybe we won't poke the dragon, we will just build up the street a little ways." Hell they may even save a ton of money. Which by the way, i would like to see who is investing the money into this.
If radical christians had flown planes into the towers, I'm sure there would be objections to a church overlooking the site. The reason people give a damn is because the 9/11/01 attacks affected all Americans whether directly or indirectly. Feelings remain strong even 9 years later. This Imam wants to put the mosque there for reasons that have nothing to do with healing and tolerance. If he was interested in healing, he would not have even thought of putting the mosque there. It has nothing to do with peace loving muslim americans. I have heard very moving words against the mosque by muslim americans. They don't want it there any more than I do. It is not political and it is not racial. It's about doing the right thing.
So you think people in Oklahoma City would be upset if a Church was built around the corner from the OKC Building bombing site? You can say it's not political and it's not racial but you are fooling yourself.
