Like @tirk said, CPM hook is a little slow and he knows it. I read an article where he admits he has been that way thru his coaching career and it came back to bite him. He did say the reason for it is because he has confidence in his guys to over come those hiccups and work through it. He mentioned he has been criticized for it before, but with the wins he has it is had to fault him. The problem is when he does it at the wrong time like during Championship games!

It's one thing to leave a pitcher like Poche or Lange in to work his way out of a jam but quite another for Reynolds who has not only a greater propensity for getting himself into bad situations, he has never shown that he can put out the fires he started. I would have given him the hook after the first walk in the 4th inning, or maybe, as another poster has said, never let him stay in long enough so that the Florida lineup gets to face him on the second time around.

Poche' got absolutely destroyed the last time we faced Florida. Let's hope he does better.

It may have been Paul's fault for sitting on the hook, but he couldn't hook him because no one was warming. He was livid with Dunn and there Dunn stood not even knowing what to do. He finally figured out that all he could do was go to the mound and stall while someone started warming in the pen.

Paul will take the blame, but it is reasons like this I have wanted Dunn gone since last season.

Poche was opposite Singer in that loss. Didn't help that the game was littered in shitty defense and zero run support. I expect very different results tonight in his last start as a Tiger knowing everyone goes home if he isn't king of the hill.

He has spent his entire career on bailing himself out. Dude battles always. That is his legacy.

I totally agree. I am not as patient as many of the coaches I watch which is why Les used to drive me crazy. All coaches have an Achilles heel and I guess that is CPM. My criticism has always been he gets out-coached in the important games but I am sure it is just my perception because you don't win as many games as he has by being out-coached. I would have pulled him after the first nine hitters saw him like you said, but they don't pay me to make that call. I just hope this bad decision doesn't cost us a championship or he will be compared to our stubborn football coach. Lucky enough to win one but not good enough to win two.

That is a good point because we do not everything that goes on in that dugout. Paul may just be falling on the sword, but it may be his assistant coaches not performing as they should. We just assume that is CPM call when it goes bad.
