Still a top 11 team. Disappointing, but get real. Gators are all but a lock. They are still leading the conference, they are top 5, rpi is a 4 and they have a road series with the gumps and finish out with Kentucky at home. Their weekend rotation is the best on this planet. So they can afford a mid-week mud stomp. We don't have their luxuries.
It could still happen, just doesn't seem likely with this bunch. I'm having trouble buying the Mainieri is strong down the stretch argument, at least this year.
Pitching Matchups Game 1 - 6:30pm, ESPN2 LSU - Jr. RHP Alex Lange (5-5, 3.27 ERA, 74.1 IP, 28 BB, 91 SO) AU - Jr. LHP Andrew Mitchell (5-2, 3.21 ERA, 28.0 IP, 12 BB, 23 SO) Game 2 - 7pm, SECN+ LSU - Sr. LHP Jared Poche' (8-3, 3.33 ERA, 73.0 IP, 22 BB, 49 SO) AU - Jr. RHP Keegan Thompson (5-3, 2.08 ERA, 69.1 IP, 11 BB, 51 SO) Game 3 - Noon, SEC Network LSU - Fr. RHP Eric Walker (5-1, 4.09 ERA, 66.0 IP, 16 BB, 55 SO) AU - So. RHP Casey Mize (6-1, 1.39 ERA, 64.2 IP, 8 BB, 86 SO) The barn runs their rotation backerds so tonight is a must must win to even compete for the series. These boys will be playing with purpose after getting swept by the gumps straight out of the toilet, at home. OR they will be uncontrollably butt hurt. Either way, I am hoping that it is just too soon to get that taste out of their mouths. Regardless, we need to STFU and just play some baseball.
Damn that makes the beer go down so much better. Gonna be a long night, I should have watched before now.
