After many years of research I have discovered about the same percentage of people:

    Smoke tree and drink responsibly.

Smoke tree and drink to excess.

Are controlled by what they smoke and/or drink.

Decide to cut back or quit both or either.

There is really nothing more perplexing than folks justifying the use of alcohol
as a mind altering substance, yet slag on folks that burn tree.

I do believe it shows their utter ignorance of human nature and their willingness
to let their beliefs control their opinion.

My story reads just like red's, moved to Cali and enjoyed the greenery, but now my choice of greenery is the hops I grow in my backyard and in my micro.

I try to base my opinions on reality rather than what I want to see.

One of my favorite quotes is from Mr. Al Einstein, it was my sig for a while:

Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions

    Both are mind altering substances.

    Alcohol IS a drug.

Drinkers apparently disconnect from that salient fact.

And where does it say you have to "abuse" (whatever that means) drugs to enjoy them?????

:hihi: Read CC's post above mine. He wanted to know how I could be against smoking pot when I've never been one to mess with it. Sorry for the confusion.

I was curious how getting it on with the pig was the example you chose.

I respect the decision some have made to never touch a controlled substance. However, sometimes I get the feeling that people have mentally divided adults into two subsets.

    1) Productive members of society
    2) Those who take drugs

Believe it or not, there is a LOT of overlap here. I'm willing to bet that the following people either currently smoke, or have in the past: Your kid's teacher, members of your church/community group, our President and many of his predecessors, your stockbroker, prominent members of LSU athletic teams and your favorite pro teams, your doctor......you get the point.

I know plenty of people who fit the stereotype: get high, play video games, eat junk food and pass out on the couch. Take away the dope, and they would still be lazy and pathetic. I also know some who smoke and go run five miles or read an entire book in one sitting.
