Again Drug users are not victims. People who commit suicide are not victims. People who get drunk and crash their cars are not victims. People who play russian roulette and get killed are not victims. In todays society everyone wants to play the victim and blame someone else. In my younger days when I smoked a joint I was NOT a victim, I was just a happy young man with a good buzz and the munchies.
I understand your reluctance to even consider what any us have put before you. It's understandable especially since your an old schooler who's been fed a lifetime of misinformation. The truth of the matter is that if parents want their kids not to use marijuana it would be in their interest to support the legalization of marijuana. This may seem like a conflict of interest but there is a valid support of such an argument. I can attest to it first-hand. In high school it was much easier to get our hands on weed than booze because drug dealers don't ask for ID. Regulated and taxed marijuana would provide extra income for our ever rising national debt and also be saving millions of police hours which could be put to real use. The cops can sure bust a dope smoker but what about the three times my car got broken into? I guarantee that the cases were never even looked into because of the high stress on the BR police department. Another plus is that we wouldn't have to watch the ridiculous anti marijuana ads on TV. You seem to be looking at it from a moral issue which is fine. But the government shouldn't be responsible for my moral decisions. The government also shouldn't be deciding what's best me either. It's a sad that we have to rely on politicians who have no clue wtf is going on in "normal life." How many senators and congressmen have to undergo drug testing. I guarantee you that hell would break loose if the had to succumb to the chit they put use through.
They do? Wow man. You're really a straight dude, man. Like . . . you've read everything about it and now you're an expert, man. Wow. All I can tell you is that I spent the 70's in full-blown, counterculture drug abuse in which I was basically stoned every waking moment, man. It led me to go on to academic success, a series of fantastic jobs, hundreds of friends, close family, a pile of money, a great deal of self-satisfaction, no stress, no debt, no addictions, good health, true enlightenment, elysian fields, and season tickets. Wow. So, I don't believe you, man. The only real, tangible danger with marijuana is that some azzhole can come and put you in jail, man. Bummer.
That is so true. All of you drug warriors do an experiment sometime. Go to a rock concert. Observe the groups of people who are stumbling drunk. Then observe the ones not drinking, but passing the joints. Pick one of the groups to allow near your kids or wife or girlfriend. Let me know what you choose. If you chose the drunks then I know you either weren't at the concert, or are just a bad father/husband/boyfriend. Get on the road after the show. Which ones are going to be swerving and weaving in traffic? The one's who just consumed a drug that lessens your inhibitions, reaction time, and judgement? Or the one's who smoked a plant that gives you heightened concentration with a hint of enough paranoia to keep you focused on the road? Another experiment. Smoke weed daily. Have another person try drinking daily to the point of intoxication. Let 40 years pass. Who is going to be in better shape? Bonus points if the daily drunk is still alive to answer.
Pot isn't addictive and everybody agrees, including you. I'm just saying that Buddy's notion that it leads to addictions, health problems and anti-social behavior is bunk, based on personal observations. :hihi: Can you dig it?
where did you gather that? i never said it wasnt addictive nor did anyone else specifically even if they do agree. big difference in whether its stupid to be illegal or whether i think its addictive.
At the very minimum, chronic use of marijuana is psychologically addictive. In addition it leads to depression, anxiety, memory and learning problems, perception problems and because of carcinogins it may contribute to enhanced chances of getting cancer. I never mentioned anything about anti-social behavior.
