No one under the influence of any drug or alcohol is fully functional or more productive. It just gives you the impression that you. It's part of the perception problem. It's a bit like a drunk thinking he is being sexy and very intelligent when just the opposite is true.
I agree that as a society we are coming to be too dependant on drugs - even legal ones. But the pharmaceutical industry has done contributed a great deal toward developing medications that reduce or eliminate physical and psychological illnesses. What has a drug dealer contributed?
That is soo funny you say that!!! I used to think that I played pool better drunk! Then one day I had a tournnment that started at freaking 8am and wasn't going to start drinking at 6am so I played it sober!! I ended up winning it and won $900! I now play pool competively sober but for fun I still do it drunk!!!
So do sex, gambling, alcohol, sports, and scores of other socially-accepted forms of behavior. In fact, many would argue that fighting in a war can have the same effect, depending on what level of battle and carnage you're exposed to. Wait, wait, wait...what? Drug dealers didn't create marijuana, my friend. That was done by God. Second, it's only the 'drug dealers' that sell it because it's not legal. If it were legal, would you call the pharmacist that distributes it a 'drug dealer,' even though he currently fills prescriptions for far worse substances? There are also many medicinal benefits of marijuana, outside of the ones outlined in the original post of this thread. Therefore, they meet the same criteria as the legal drugs that you refer to when praising the pharmaceutical industry in the above post. And, despite the industry's contributions to society, does that mean we should forgive them for the untold numbers of 'bad' medications?
This is a bad generalization. I used to do homework high all the time, and made good grades. In fact, sometimes it actually helped calm me down and relax my thinking after staring at the same problem for 3 hours and getting absolutely nowhere (sober). But for the most part, you are correct. However, it should be stated that most people don't do drugs or drink alcohol with the anticipation of being fully functional or more productive. In fact, it's ususally the opposite.
U.S. forestry industry... thats the lobby that made marijuana illegal and is keeping it illegal... Hemp products were and still are a major threat to the forestry industry because almost every product that is made from wood can be made from hemp, and usually cheaper. By keeping marijuana illegal, it keeps a stigma on hemp products. Add that to the cotton/textiles industry, the oil industry (biofuel can be made from hemp), and the fertilizer industry (hemp is know to replinish fuel, not deplete it), not to mention the pharmacutical industry (think of all the producst that can be replaced by a natural alternative)... well.. marijuana/hemp has alot of enemies..
What further proof does anyone need that it doesn't take drugs to inhibit rational thought? P.S. - Checkmate!
