You're thinking of the new Cowboys training facility in Frisco. The high schools in Frisco play there. The Allen stadium was funded through a bond election, and the McKinney stadium will be the same. Nationally, a lot of people have made a big fuss about it, thinking that they schools, themselves, are suffering at the expense of athletics. However, that isn't the case. The schools are all well-funded and beautiful, as well.
Even as large as the schools are, the feeder systems are set up so that kids always go to school with their core elementary class. My daughter is now part of a class of 1500, but she still goes to school with the original 120 from her elementary, as well. And as for the educational experience, it is true that being part of a group/club/team is important because it gets students involved. But the education the kids receive is top-notch. My daughter's high school course catalog looks like the one I had at LSU. The size of the schools up here allows them to offer so many options for the kids. At the senior highs, some kids get to school at 7; my daughter does with drill team, but there are also "zero hour" classes at that time. There are clinical rotations at hospitals for kids who want to go into medicine; my daughter wants to be a teacher and is doing a block class that has had her working midday in a preschool and, soon, an elementary. My daughter is also doing dual enrollment for US History, so her class only meets on M/W/F; on T/Th, she gets to come home at 3:15. The Plano schools are great, with the top 10 percent going to Stanford, MIT, the military academies, and the Ivy League. My tiny school in Louisiana didn't offer anything. In spite of the big schools, after living here for 21 years, Plano has a decidedly small-town feel. My daughters always say, "We can't go anywhere without running into someone we know." I actually got interviewed by Money magazine last year when Plano won another "best places to live" list. They ended the article with my quote, "Plano is the largest small town in America."
Taint, you nostalgic bastard, you just love to dig up things that have no relevance to the topic at hand to try and prove your point. I can't believe you went to "Purple Drank" funny. How about a team of Mett, OBJ,Juice and Hill not to mention the OL. Hell half of that entire offense if not more are in the NFL and they didn't get out of the 30's in CBC offense.
