I disagree TigerSaint. The injury is unfortunate, and I honestly don't think he will return this season unless we are playing in the Fiesta Bowl for the national championship come January. However, Toefield is almost certain to return for his senior year. He MIGHT get drafted after this season, but the issue is still in doubt, and he doesn't want to be caught leaning to the wrong side of the fence like Trev Faulk was. With his injuries and the Faulk situation last year, Toefield also doesn't have to look far to see why he needs to have a Plan B in case this football thing doesn't work out, so I look for him to want to stay in school and get his degree. Last I heard, he is on schedule to graduate. LaBrandon Toefield will return for his senior year, he will be the feature back, he will be a Heisman Candidate (a sleeper most likely, but still) and, God willing, will have an awesome year and have the time of his life while doing it. Then he will be a 1st Rd. pick easy. Get well soon, Toe, and Godspeed. GO TIGERS!!
I agree totally, jetstorm. Saban told Reed to go pro. He did and is making an impact for the Pats. Saban told Faulk not to go, and he did anyway. Then he got cut before joining a practice squad. Saban will tell Toe not to go pro. I think his prior opinion will certainly impact Toe's decision. Now lets be realistic. We all know that Toefield is a special rare breed of back. But what does the rest of the country think? They think he has his moments, but isnt durable enough to be an every down back. While that may not be true, look at the last two seasons. A season ending injury a year isnt a good average. NO NFL team wants that. He absolutely has to put together a FULL impressive season to be considered NFL caliber. I think it would be a real stretch predicting Toefield to go pro this year. However, if he stays off the field for the rest of the season. If he Rehabs his arm AND leg for an entire offseason. He will undoubtedly be in 100% form for the 2003 season. DD will be gone, and he will be the premier back. It only makes sense for him to return.
i think you ment Bills, but anyway, I absolutely agree with you. Also, how do you know Saban told T. Faulk not to go early ? I thought I heard otherwise. You made some really good points about Toefield, he will be back at original form next year (I don't think he was actually 100% at the start of this year)
Doh, yeah I meant Bills. I was thinking of Rohan. I dont remember where I read it, but I remeber reading a quote from Trev about discussing it with Saban. Sorry I cant remember the exact wording, but he mentioned Saban suggested to stay, but he had finished his degree and wanted to move on.
thanks for the info, by the way isn't Toefield an academic senior ? He's an athletic Junior (was redshirted his freshman year) so that would make him a senior. So he might be getting his degree soon also.
