I'd take 2011's D over any defense in the history of college football. When you add the special teams too, I don't think 2003's was nearly as good.

2003 was nasty and awesome and great. And for as mediocre as Lee was (and yes he was) we still converted in the red zone better than almost anyone and we were a complete dominant team with our special teams, defense and just enough offense to embarrass anyone not named Alabama.

I mean if you think of the position the 2011 defense was put in, that's why I'll always say that the 2011 LSU D was superior to the 2011 Alabama D. In 2011 Alabama had a really good offense, their O line was beast, Lacy and Richardson etc. LSU's O sucked, and constantly put all the pressure on the D and in 1 game, the O didn't do enough to help the D out. That Defense beat 3 BCS bowl game winners in 1 season, Oregon, West Virginia, and Alabama all on the f'n road. No other defense in history in my opinion can f with that.

Well said LaSalle but add the special teams to that. The Oregon, WVA, Arky and Ga games were all turned on ST plays. The Jan game was the only one I remember where we didn't have a ST play that was big.

True and I was counting D/ST as a whole I don't think there has ever been better, probably a little bias there but look at the starters...in the NFL, Montgomery, Mingo, Logan, Brockers, Minter, Mathieu, Claiborne, Taylor, Reid, that's 9 out of your 11 starters and Barrow will be there, who's the backer I'm missing Fancois? Is he in the nfl on special teams somewhere?
