Very Good read, and I was not attepting to derail the thread, it was only a cheap shot at you because I knew it would rile you up and to further my assertation that you can't believe everything you read or hear just because there is a link. I figured there was NO WAY the great RED was buying into any conspiracy theory. But you can't ignore it either. Knowledge is all about sorting the wheat from the chaff and I choose my data carefully. One can get his remarks challenged and back it up with evidence, sources, citations and corroboration . . . or he can stand there and say "Oh, yeah?" :hihi:
How would he have done that? I'm just asking. Also, I sort of think that we don't know if we've gotten bin Laden or not; I don't necessarily believe those "videos" of him every six months or so are authentic.
The war in Iraq has taken away our ability to focus more seriously in Afghanistan. We've also missed opportunities and aren't putting enough emphasis on finding the leader of the organization that perpetrated 9/11. It seems Obama doesn't believe we should be so involved in the internal affairs of other nations and I like that he wants to seriously improve diplomacy more than the remaining candidates.
Someone get Red, he is gonna love this one. I for one think,(thats right Red, don't have a link) that we can get OBL anytiime we want to. I believe that we want him alive. This way we sort of have some control and someone to monitor the chatter and what not. If and when he does croak, there will be tons of little habibs all trying to be the new "head of the snake" if you will. Just my opinion but I think we know where he is, and can get him if we really want him.
Obama very well could have found Osama, but it would have been more out of luck because I doubt he would have had much help controlling the borders and support from other governments, which is the real problem.
If the entire operation in Afghanistan was handled better we probably would have already gotten bin Laden. We were close a number of times. Also, Musharraff probably would let us, off the books, go in and get bin Laden if we had actionable intelligence. We never needed to get involved with taking out the Taliban and redoing Afghanistan's government.
