Amazing what pitching and defense will do for you. While LSU was the team of the 1990s, Texas is the team of the 2000s. Augie is a great coach and it makes me wish Skip would've stayed in the dugout instead of moving up to the AD's office.
All this having been said...during the Series, did everybody else enjoy ogling ESPN sideline babe Erin Andrews as much as I did?
Did anyone hear one of the announcers, during the seventh inning, I believe--compared UT's baseball program to USC's football program in terms of absolute domination? "They just plug in new players and keep dominating..." or something along those lines.
It's like I always wondered where Matt Leinart's "F*** the BCS" T-shirt was when he was accepting the crystal football after the Oklahoma game. My, how the world turns.
USCs 12 titles isnt that impressive when you consider they won most of them when only three schools played college baseball. As to the Texas recruiting defense crap. Big deal. All the double plays in the world won't score a run. Texas didn't need to play small ball to win this championship. They won with base hits not bunts.
Each to his own. I guess we were watching different games. Funny thing heard on Austin radio this afternoon on the way home. Girl news announcer, who I suppose doesn't follow sports much, said "And the Texas Longhorns are this year's NAACP baseball champions." I nearly wrecked on I-35.
texas won with balance. a homer in each of their 5 games sealed it. I figured they wouldn't hit homers consistently but they did. So small ball didnt win...balanced ball did. good defense is included with that. solid middle infielders are a must, its just that simple. j brent cox wont get the hype because he looks like a nerd. i mean even I had to get over that fact but that guy has filthy stuff. we need a dominant closer and starter because we won't have power at all next year. Power-outage ball will be the motto next year so we need a couple jc transfers to fill the holes.
