So life doesn't happen in a vacuum. We could have been like New York and killed all our old people, or like Louisiana and destroyed our economy, or like Cali and taxed everyone until they left. Also I didn't give an absolute so please, be accurate. I said Texas works better than most states. It was an accurate statement.
they got hit by a a once in a century ice storm. otherwise they are doing awesome as people move there in droves.
I agree Texas is a great place to live, I moved here from Louisiana for a reason. And I am very worried that we might become California 2.0 with the huge migration of people moving to Texas to get away from California. But hopefully we can find a happy medium. We need to figure out what should be regulated and what shouldn't be. I love that I can shop for low prices for energy, but would for be willing to pay a little higher price to ensure I don't have to live without it during a winter storm and worry about freezing to death. Or not have water pouring out of busted pipes in my house because I lost power to the house for 12 hours+. Or having drinkable water, or hell its nice to be able to just flush the toilet. But those are all things I have had to deal with over this past week. And I am one of the lucky ones, I know people that have their entire houses floaded and did not have power for 30+ hours and still no water. And I am not sure it was worth saving 20 bucks on my electricity bill.
the government is not your dad. they dont protect you from disasters. the money AOC raised, i suspect it wont do shit. it might hurt. my guess is the "Ending Community Homeless Coalition" doesnt do dick. i will tell you again, what cruz does. he protects us from the catastrophic legislation people like beto and AOC would pass. let me put it in terms you will pretend to care about: without cruz and people like him, AOC would pass the green new deal, which would hurt blacks and trans people.
Well the pipes thing is your fault. When a winter storm comes to the south, you should not expect the infrastructure to support negative or single digit numbers very well.
texas requested federal assistance from fema. outside of the fema response (which texas requested) what has biden (biden, not someone else) done besides talk to affected governors from tex, louisiana, etc? any specifics? insofar as AOC is concerned, good for her that she's learned the lesson of never letting a good crisis go to waste and good for those who will receive the benefit of the $$ raised. cruz is guilty of exercising poor judgement in this instance.... the optics are terrible but are just that: optics. again, i realize my liberal friends think that thought equates to deeds but in the real world that isn't how it works....
true. for liberals its about the purely performative, never about outcomes. also, AOC did like 22 seconds of work, she asked others for money. its not like she is out there earning money for the cause.
also gov cuomo i threatening his fellow dems to shut the fuck up about how he killed all those old people and wants to cover it up. but CNN is all ted cruz all the time. he went to the beach for 12 hours. cuomo is covering up his terrible incompetence, even comrade diblasio is sick of cuomo threatening people. cuomo is definitely pleased that the media is obsessed that cruz took his daughters out of the cold house.
