My cousin and I had talked about making the trip to try out the 75oz steak one day. The only bad thing is if you don't finish it, not only are you miserable because you failed and are now stuffed to point of shortness of breath, but you have to pay for it. I'm pretty sure it's close to $100 for the steak.
i didnt see that episode but theres no way any normal person should attempt this: if you fail, it costs 72 bucks. a dollar an ounce i suppose. the dude on MvF obviously made his rounds in new orleans. im sure he finished this. its oysters.
I hope he does not have life insurance, I need to give him a call and set him up.:hihi: I thought about his when he attempted to finish the hottest curry challenge.
I would have tried The Big Texan steak it as a youngster. The biggest porterhouse steaks didn't fill me up when I was 19. These days, I don't even finish a 16-oz ribeye. I usually order the 8 oz filet.
I survived 2 straight days of meat fest. As much as I love the place, 2 days in a row is too much. Day 2 was exhausting but I loved every minute of it. I will say however that between the 2 days I am confident that I consumed about 15lbs of delicious barbecued red meat. I'd say a safe 85% was split between filet and sirloin. It's weird to look at filet and almost be disgusted.
At $42 the only way I could get my money's worth would be to only eat the expensive cuts of meat like the filet mignon, ribeyeys and T Bones and leave the salad bar and side orders alone. If I could afford it I would love to take the entire rosters of the LSU and Southern football and basketball teams there to see if I could put them out of business in one glorious night of gluttony
That salad bar is their trump card. They try to trick you into eating it and filling up on inexpensive food. I think that's why the food on the salad bar is so good. You have to be strong and just turn your coaster to green right when you get there.
