Terry had his positives, but team discipline and recruiting weren't among them.

    Don't do it .... I wouldn't wish it on y'all.

So many talk about what a great game coach he was. I kept wondering how AU's running game got so bad......so fast. This from someone who really likes Mike Leach's offense......

If the LSU job opens up, Terry Bowden will not be hired. I'd bet my house on that.

Yup, I don't think you'd be in any danger of losing your house.

Regarding the running game under TB, it was likely a combination of things. He definitely made two very smart moves early in his tenure.

First, he left the defense in the complete control of Wayne Hall. (perhaps to his long-term detriment) Like him or not, CWH had carnal knowledge of the 4-3 scheme as well as any SEC coach in his era, and he was adept at exploiting an opponent's weaknesses from the defensive perspective. His use of CB blitzes were often so well-disguised that tv truck producers often referred to CWH as "Wayne Effin' Hall" because of their propensity to miss camera angles.

Secondly, CTB brought an innovative offensive look to AU at a time when it had become stale and predictable (some would argue we're there again  ) His willingness to spread his skill players and take on a little more risk in exchange for getting his athletes into open space against targeted mismatches payed huge dividends against the SEC defensive styles that were common of the era.

As an AU fan, it's hard to overlook the damage that CTB created with longtime high-school recruiting relationships, not to mention the Russell debacle, but IMHO, CTB was an excellent motivator and gameday tactician.

Tater Tot is a quitter and anyone who hires him doesn't have a brain.

How much of that credit belongs to Tommy Bowden?
