I think it was a bluff, but then I started thinking about it.

UT knows they will probably not be in the SEC title game unless Georgia and UF drop a game or two. Even then it is unlikely.

So the SEC title game is out of the picture for them, so the next concern would be a BCS bowl or staying in the Top 10.

If they forfeit to LSU, would that hurt them in the polls and could they potentially move into a BCS bowl game with a forfeit on their record?

If they lose to LSU they will fall out of the top 10 and probably wouldn't have the possiblity of moving back into the top 10.

    Just a conspiracy thought.

    Please, allow me rebuttal.

First of all, no one here was advocating flying in unsafe conditions. And Coach Les Miles is going to be the last person pushing for flying in unsafe conditions. You probably forgot he was at Oklahoma State when one of two charter planes went down on a return trip from a basketball game at Colorado. All ten people on board - and all associated with the basket ball team, including two players - were killed. Miles knows what it is like for a school to face that kind of tragedy.

The problem is, Phatimus has been pushing for anything, other than playing in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. Long before Rita popped up, he was using every excuse he could find to weasel out of that specific game.

Rescheduling the CGG to play this game - or any other regular season game - at the end of the season should be the option only of last resort. For UT to be asking for that instead of the delay of one or two days is arrogant, at best. The way the hurricane season is going so far, that option should be saved for if it is absolutely needed. For this game, it wasn't.

LSU fans are skeptics of Phatty's intentions because of the way he has conducted himself for weeks regarding this game. He has done nothing but run to the media and whine like the Pokey Little Puppy (which by the way, is that the new UT mascot?) about anything and everything regarding this game.

In contrast, Les Miles had his first game cancelled, the second game moved half way across the country, and now the third postponed by two days. Yet you don't hear him whining about it. That is called sucking it up like a man. Something Philly Cheese Steak might want to take lessons on.

Took this from the LSU website:

LSU Director of Athletics Skip Bertman...
"We will abide by the ruling of the SEC commissioner. We will now face significant logistical challenges, but we hope for the continued cooperation of our fans. Naturally our strong preference would have been to play during the weekend, but safety for student-athletes, fans and everyone else involved in a football game was the overriding factor for the commissioner."

    LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe...
"We certainly respect the SEC commissioner's judgment, but this poses significant issues as we preserve our principal purpose of conducting academic activities on our campus. This will require a lot of flexibility and tolerance to be exerted on the part of our campus community after having been called upon to do so for many weeks in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. That said, the overriding safety factors expressed by the commissioner are compelling and understandable."

    LSU Coach Les Miles...
"This is another turn in the road for this football team. It's something that we have gotten used to over the past month. I think we'll respond very well. The players are excited about getting the opportunity to open the home season on Monday night. I expect our fans to pack Tiger Stadium just as if the game were being played on a Saturday night."

Coach Miles is obviously the class of this bunch. The first two "respect" and "will abide" by the rule, but obviously don't like it. So, yes-someone in this post has advocated UT flying in and out in dangerous weather-Bertman and O'Keefe. We obviously can not fly in or out early, there is no options for staying anywhere near the game. I understand that this is not LSU's fault, but Bertman doesn't seem to care about the continued flexibility demanded of the Vols and their fans either. I do not want to see the Championship game moved-I just want the game played at a safe environment.

You know that when UT losses, their coach and/or players will say the delay in the game was the reason

I don't think anyone has questioned the move to a monday gameday.. well some people have... but their idiotic remarks effectively negate any squalls they have toward playing on Monday...... However, what most people are complaining about is, well, the complaining from UT's admin. They're talking like LSU wants to make things as rough for the Volunteers as possible... it's the epitome of idiocy
