In general, I don't accept "I know for a fact because I know such and such" kind of statements on anonymous internet message boards as the standard of truth. So I have to look at what support you provide to pass judgement. From the link you provided, I have to say that you come across more as someone who will grab at anything to support your blind hatred, regardless of how silly it looks on face value. From this article, we are supposed to believe that this evil genius, Jimmy Collins, is so good at covering his tracks that he can publicly brag about it to any loose lips. Of course, maybe the conclusion is that his "confidant" couldn't help spilling the beans to this stranger after being badgered because he was strung out on free cookies.

Another possibility was also available on the website under the comments. I'll copy them here for convenience:
I didn't research the claims in the above posts, but which story rings truer; which one is a neutral party most likely to believe? :
    1. The impossible to confirm story of someone strung out on eating cookies spilling his guts to a stranger, or
    2. Facts said to be reported in newspaper articles.
Now I don't know for a fact if Illinois was cheating big time or not, but given the precarious situation that the program was in and what the facts say, I doubt that they were. Personally, Collins strikes me as someone more careless than really dirty; cognizant of the big stuff, but having disregard for the minor. Without a doubt he should have been straightened out and Illinois was negligent for not doing so. However, the way this came down was wrong.

If there is sufficient reason, good intent, and good due diligence done, snitching is not a bad thing; it's probably the ethical thing to do (BTW, you may want to have this kind of ethical discussion with your brother-in-law. I bet he made some interesting choices). Pearl may have had good reason, but I doubt he had good intent, and unquestionably did not do good due diligence. Pearl crossed an ethical line in his actions, as did Iowa's athletic department in this affair (they are also making interesting choices with Alford as well). He was young then, and it seems to me that with the TN job, he is getting back on track. However, he should be watched, particularly, since he has never acknowledged any wrong doing.
