I'm thinking the 7 total TDs this season, (10 games) lowest in the SEC by far, might be affecting your analysis! @ParadiseiNC. will be along shortly to try & dress up O/E's glaring turd in the punchbowl.
Not defending the offense. It’s been poor the last 2 games and is ranked low. I get that. I’m just trying to counter the majority on here the past 2 weeks with no patience who call for coaches heads the minute a team doesn’t live up to their personal expectations. A lot of spotlighting right now on one aspect of the team not meeting expectations. Winning is not enough now for this regime. They need to do it convincingly. If not, there are glaring problems in the coaching and scheme. All I’m saying is maybe, maybe not. If this regime was in place for a decade like Miles, and patterns were truly clear and not necessarily a reflection of talent transitions, then I’d be on the bandwagon. Shoot, 3 years will be enough evidence, but not 2 games. Give them a chance to get past whatever dynamics they are going through right now. We’re 8-2, are steady at #7, and have a damn strong chance at 10-2 regular season with strong recruiting on the horizon. Other than the offense’s difficulties, there is not a lot to complain about. Unfortunately, for this coaching regime, they are on the heels of poor offense creativity for 10+ years and that is difficult to get past that bad taste. I don’t think for a second that this is Miles ball Act 2. Oeaux and E have had very different mentors and paths than Miles, and just need some time to demonstrate the differences in approach, and eventually more success and efficiency.
While calling for heads after 2 weeks is silly, edging that way, based on terrible offensive stats, well, maybe not. Our offense, other than a couple of world class running backs, has been in the dumper for years. The gaffe here is the failure to get it fixed. “Fixed” is not a one year deal, but we need some progress if we are ever going to get there. It’s just disappointing we remain ranked in the triple figures in passing rankings. Maybe it’s personnel, coordinators, attitude, or, hell, even schedules, but the flaccid hand off (with no mis-direction) inside the tackles and the feeble screen pass that in all likelihood nets zero or less to date just doesn’t show much progress.
@ParadiseiNC I hear you brother I do. I was in the "wait and see" or "give O a chance" group. Overall yes, the record is better than we expected. Unfortunately we have seen this movie before. I would like to believe you are right, hell I hope you are right and things start to click for this offense but it won't.
So you’re approach is allow another white man back into the village even though he is using the same tactics and running the same exact offense as the previous white man that burned your village and raped your horses? Even the horses are nervous dude.
I hear ya, man. I'm willing to give it more time with more talent on that side of the ball coming in. Having said that, I wouldn't be opposed to a up and coming OC. Maybe that will elevate us substantially, idk.
