Vanderbilt isn't going anywhere. Every league needs a doormat. Vandy has been politely losing for decades. The SEC has too many contenders already, we beat up on each other and cost the SEC shots at the NC. We don't need another top program in the SEC, its hard enough to go undefeated as it is!
Not the boot. There are rumors that they may opt out like Tulane and GT did years ago. Family had a discussion about at thanksgiving and I thought Id bring it up to pass time till the game. Still think Clemson is the best replacement if it does happen.
Southern Miss baby! After all it is the largest school in Mississippi, and has media and recruiting markets in Mississippi, South Louisiana, and South Alabama.
The Earth will spin off of its axis before the A&M leaves the Big XII, and an ACC team joining the SEC is less likely than that. USM actually wouldn't be too bad. They have a better football team than Vandy, and a half decent basketball program. Even a team like Houston wouldn't be too bad. The football team is also better than Vandy, the basketball program is improving, and they have good baseball and track teams.
Better football team than Vandy? Yes, but they also have a better team than Miss St. and Ole Miss, all on a shoestring budget. The combined record of USM vs Ole Miss and Miss St is something like 27-11.
Have heard that same line in our neck of the woods. Maybe something to it maybe not. Back in Oct. 15 sports journalists collaborated on the SEC "DREAM" Team. Below are the results: (not that I agree totally) The panel's SEC lineup: EAST DIVISION -- Florida -- Florida State -- Georgia -- Georgia Tech -- Kentucky -- Tennessee WEST DIVISION -- Alabama -- Arkansas -- Auburn -- LSU -- Ole Miss -- Mississippi State -- Also receiving votes: South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Texas, Texas A&M, Louisville, Miami, Virginia Tech, Tulane -- Voters: Randy Kennedy, Mobile Register; Kevin Scarbinsky, Birmingham News; John Pruett, Huntsville Times; Ken Burger, Charleston Post and Courier; Matt Hayes, The Sporting News; Ivan Maisel, ESPN.com; Wally Hall, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette; Glenn Guilbeau, Baton Rouge Advocate; Mike Gottfried, ESPN; Ron Higgins, Memphis Commercial-Appeal; Tony Barnhart, Atlanta Journal-Constitution; Rick Cleveland, Jackson Clarion-Ledger; Wendell Barnhouse, Fort Worth Star-Telegram; David Climer, Nashville Tennessean; Mike Bianchi, Orlando Sentinel http://www.al.com/sports/mobileregister/index.ssf?/base/sports/1065691021195940.xml
