1. I watch a pretty good amount of football, and perhaps outside of the really big rivalries (like Ohio St - Michigan), I do not see the amount of physicality that we have in the SEC in other conferences game in & game out.

Take LSU's loss to Kentucky last year for example. We had no less than 4 starters out for stretches of that game due to injuries either from the week before (UF) or during the game.
  2. Absolutely. I do not see how a rational fan can believe that USC, Ohio St, and OU would've had their same records & number of conference championships in the SEC.
  3. That's exactly what I'm talking about, a lot of it is a matter of familiarity.

You are correct again. Check the link below, there does seem to be fewer in that conference. I guess they run around everyone with those speedy backs or maybe it's the big passing games.

I do and it's evident in the injury report below. At the time of this report, you can compare LSU to the other schools. I put a few PAC10 schools cause they're most often the one we like to call soft.

Granted, some of these most probably occured in practice, it's still the bottom line. Maybe there are just more pussies in the PAC, hell I don't know.

  4. correct. our kids actually played dodgeball when they were little.
  5. Yea, out here we call it dodgebullet. Nobody ever accused USC running backs of being slow.

  6. Yep...just soft, or in some cases fat.

  8. We're all definitely getting excited. Some nervous, others overly confident, the usual. The author is definitely trying to address it here, so it obviously is in the head of many buckeye fans. I would say that 70% are expecting a great game, and the rest split between the extremes. I'm looking forward to it:thumb:
  9. Great points both in this and tiga's post. The buckeyes, for example, play heated games with Penn St (Only team to beat us other than texas in 05 (?), and hung 63 on us when the first joined the conference)., Illinois (last couple of years and the 90's always play us tough, and is a brutally hard hitting game), Wisconsin (also have had a history of biting us, and this year there were something like 10 injuries this year between both teams (though i think a good flexibility coach cuts down on a lot of those), Iowa embarrassed us a couple of years ago, and they painted their opponents locker room pink, in an attempt to psych out the other guy.

this is not to say that any of these rivalries are better/worse than others in the SEC, but hopefully gives some information on some of the teams that always get your attention, regardless of what should happen. I'll admit, i'm also a fan of football when it's really cold out, as the hits feel harder from the stands when you're freezin your nuts off, and you know they are too.
